Inmate Paice (Turning to Crime artwork)

Ian Paice’s drum kit auction from early March was a resounding success, raising £11,600 for charity. Following up on that, Ian is putting up some memorabilia from the Turning to Crime sessions: a set of drum heads (sold individually) and a couple of sticks used to record the album, and the inmate plaque used in the mugshot for the album artwork.

The auctions close on Thursday, April 18, 2024, around 8pm British time.

    James Steven Gemmell says:

I don’t know who’s more humble, Paice or Glover. Two tremendous talents, and yet they have more humility than about 98 percent of the guys in the local bar bands. Paicey actually wondered aloud whether anyone would fork over for his vintage kit. Glover has been quoted as saying he was “lucky” to be surrounded by talented musicians in Purple, as if he isn’t an all-time great himself.

What a surreal moment for that guy who purchased those drums, a wonderful moment there indeed. Cheers.
