It won’t be much longer

Roger Glover visited Hamburg for a very much closed doors preview of the now ‘nearly there’, but still unnamed new Deep Purple album at the Chameleon Studios in Dulsberg. Bild.de carried a short report, and Roger also recorded a video message for the fans.

Thanks to BraveWords and Yvonne for the info.

Wow, Roger is a member of Deep Purple now for 58 years, as “Bild” says … Can anybody tell me a bit more of the first ten years of the band? I didn’t know they played already in 1958. And why was Roger fired in 1968 and joined the band again in 1969? How many records did they record in the first ten years? Are these records still available anywhere? “Bild” also says Rog is 70 years old. So he joined Deep Purple with 12 …

How long is a piece of string????!!!!
Name it press it then release it.
What some help with the title Roger…….How about …’Dead End’
They can be as clever as they like with all the secrecy. It will still be on you tube before hitting the shops!!!!!
Hard core fans will still buy it and not steal it.
    Can’t wait.

Patience is a virtue…or maybe it used to be that. In this era of 24/7 online society one year is like a generation. One year after the recording was made the release will happen. That is quite odd these days. The purple albums usually have an orbit of many more years but they are awaited with anticipation amongst legions of fans who will grow grey hairs. Happy to still be around.
Thankful and impatient is a strange combination.

Yes all well and good Rog, but why have the album recorded and yet not aim for Christmas release?? Why wait till early next year. I reckon record the product, get it out for the fans in a timely manner. Clearly the record company has far too much say!
    GET IT OUT!!

WOW, haha, sorry, Rog, but it sounds so unexciting I just can’t believe it’s not April Fool’s! 🙂 But hey, maybe it’s better that way, not pretending that it’s great you guys have a new album. Well, I’m just an old fan, always there for you but some more hurrah-kind of attitude would help. Best!

It is clever to release the album in spring. Before christmas they would have no Chance to reach a high position in the album charts

Greg@10 – I doubt it would be the record company. They are masters at releasing ‘their’ products at the festive time of year. They know how to pull on the purse strings etc. Later in the year is usually the release time for many a new record, greatest hits, retrospective box sets, anthologies etc, etc! All will be revealed! Cheers,

Can’t wait! The new album finally coming.

@12 – I think he seems to be very happy about the whole thing.

@4 – I don’t know where you got these info from, they were classified.

@9 It wasn’t one year it was more like two. “The backing tracks are all done.” -Steve Morse to me, August 2004 in person to person interview. Now, even stranger the vocals were ALL laid down in a different studio in Toronto. I don’t know about anyone else but if that’s a thing that modern technology can smooth than so be it, but it’s rather suspect in this day and age to even think of them doing that. I can understand laying the tracks down in Spain, but recording them and the vocals in two separate locations just weighs heavy. Then we hear Ian Gillan talk about how fired up he is now, perhaps he pulled out all lyrical and vocal dynamic stops and is looking forward to any effect it has? Never know, but he usually doesn’t suck on records to begin with, but I’m sure someone can name a pile?
