In anticipation for the one-off Dead Daisies/Glenn Hughes reunion, Glenn and Doug Aldrich were interviewed by the MetalKaoz podcast.

I kind of wonder, with John Corabi being such an Mk III fan (favorite album: Stormbringer), why they they don’t let him join for the Purple set and do the vocal parts DC did, that would have been really something, return of the tandem lead vocals, worthy of being saved for posterity.
May 12th, 2026 at 15:11Dough says there will be no keyboards for the Purple set – well, that’s ambitious and will be interesting.
I have a hunch this will be recorded and released in the aftermath – The Dead Daisies release live albums regularly, but not yet one with the Hughes line-up.

It would go nicely with the live Black Country Communion CD that Joe B. was working on late last year. I hope they both happen!
May 13th, 2026 at 12:03It’s a real shame that Glenn didn’t properly record his Purple set with Soren. The digital downloads that were on his website were poorly recorded. I’ve a boot of a gig in Chile from 2018 but it’s not the best quality. Having seen the DD in Bristol I’m fearful and keyboardless set will be all bludgeon and no subtlety.
May 13th, 2026 at 12:52I find the thought of DP without keyboards/Hammond difficult. Zep and Sabbath dabbled with keyboards at times, as ornamentation, but it wasn’t part of the basic structure. It was/is with Purple and I have yet to hear a Purple number that sounds better without keyboards than with them.
May 13th, 2026 at 15:21@4 I have hoped for a live album with Glenn’s Purple set too, the shows I attended were great – and I guess it would have sold rather more copies than some of his solo offerings. The downloads were really disappointing and I thought it a bit of a rip off to charge money for them.
May 13th, 2026 at 20:30I didn’t download anything, but I’m baffled that in this day and age the quality is apparently so bad. That’s weird, I mean all you need is decent soundboard signals and a good mix (as well as some patching up where necessary) in the aftermath. Recording bass, drums, one guitar, one keyboard and one vocalist hardly seems like Raketentechnik.
I’m sure David Lowy is a great real estate transactionist and portfolio manager plus a gifted Spitfire pilot, he can also play a raunchy rhythm guitar and I have no issues with The Dead Daisies as a wealthy man’s pastime augmented by pros. That he would have the skills to play Jon’s Hammond parts on guitar (or Blackmore’s while Doug is handling Jon’s parts) would be news to me though. Strange that they think they can do this well without keyboards.
