 Ioannis, who was  
involved in doing the cover for the new Deep Purple album,
Rapture Of The Deep, does a monthly online column 
for Classic Rock Revisited, 
where he tells the stories behind some of the most classic rock covers. This time he writes 
about Machine Head and he has also done an 
interview with Roger Glover. Here are a few bits of what Ioannis had to say:

 Tonight Ian Gillan will feature in BBC Radio 2's "Master 
Of Rock", which is presented by Iron 
Maiden's singer Bruce Dickinson. 
The show is between 21.00 - 22.00. They will talk about and playing cuts from "Rapture 
Of The Deep" and exclusive extracts from Ian's forthcoming solo album, "Gillan's

 October 12Secret Gig
 Deep Purple played a secret gig at
Hard Rock Café in London October 10. The gig was to launch the new album and 
to celebrate the reopening of the venue. Deep Purple did a 65 minute set in 
front of a couple of hundred people, invite only. They performed three new 
tracks, "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye", "Rapture Of The Deep", and "Wrong Man".

 October 5Ian Paice Session
 Ian Paice were in Italy on September 21, to record two new songs 
for the Moonstone Project (see picture). The two songs, "One Dollar Baby" and "Halfway To 
Heaven" will be used for Moonstone 2nd album. The first album, "Time To Take A 
Stand", which also feature Ian Paice (and Glenn Hughes among others), will be 
released in the first month of 2006.

 A promo single will go out to radio stations next week. It will 
be the title track from the upcoming album, Rapture Of 
The Deep.
 October 1Gillan on DualDisc
 Ian Gillan's upcoming album, "Gillan's 
Inn", will be on the new DualDisc format. On one side it will be the regular 
stereo CD and on the other side DVD. Gillan has used this format so the 
listeners can choose from four different guitar solos on the remake of "Smoke On 
The Water".

 Deep Purple will continue touring in South America, India and 
Thailand through December of this year. Deep Purple plans to follow up with a

 Steve Morse found some time off and wrote 
a letter. Here is a few bits:
 "The gig I just did was wonderful. It was the
Blues Festival in Hell, Norway." "Knut 
made it happen for myself, Van Romaine, 
and Dave LaRue to come over to play our 
set one night, then organize a variety of guest performers the next night. We 
were sort of like Dave 
Letterman's band, backing up each guest, and throwing in a few solos along 
the way." "Now, it seems like an eternity, but only a week back, with 
Purple, I was jamming with 
 Warren, 
the guitarist from Government Mule,
Allman Bros,
Phil Lesh... " "Also, in Germany, we had a visit by Deep Purple's producer,
Michael Bradford. He is a very talented 
guy, and didn't hesitate when I suggested joining us for a couple of tunes on 
guitar, although his principal instrument is bass."

 The California Jam DVD is now planned for a 
release in December 2005. It will be released on EMI world wide except for USA 
and Japan (Spitfire/Eagle). The DVD will have some bonus material, Lay Down Stay 
Down, alternate versions of two tracks with different camera angles, interview 
with Ian Paice (and Jon Lord), historical commentary, picture and image gallery, 
number of audio options, unseen Super 8mm clips from backstage and the control 
tower, on screen histories, etc.
