Nice, that is why Ian Paice impresses so many, speed, dexterity, finesse etc. Wonderful as he always has been since day one, all those years ago. Cheers.

Great! I think Paicey is doing valuable work with video recording his playing. All the young drummers of the world (and the not so young as well) will have the opportunity to have a closer look at an extremely distinguished drummer at work. I hope Paicey will make more of his videos available in some form. He is one of the best.

I think he needs to rehearse the stick twirling at the end a bit more.

The close up camera filming of great drummers is a valuable document indeed. Years ago I purchased Neil Peart’s superb dvd, ‘A Work In Progress’. Peart not only talks all things drumming etc, he plays every song off the then recent Rush album Test For Echo. He talks of all the different approaches to the how & why of arrangements for each song, a masterclass from one of the greats. The dvd also has Peart’s wonderful insight into his philosophy on life & other things. Seeing this Ian Paice clip reminded me of the Peart video in so many ways. Cheers.

Usually it is hard to see what drummers are really doing beyond cymbal work. I am a mediocre drummer who struggles to figure out what others are doing just by ear. But seeing it always makes sense to me.

Amazing pace and stamina despite all the years. Long may it continue.
