Roger is alive and well

Roger Glover. Photo © Nick Soveiko 2005.

Roger Glover had to miss the last couple of shows to attend urgent family matters. Sunflower Jam regular Nick Fyffe stood in on the bass. Rest assured, Roger is alive and well and will return as soon as the circumstances permit him. There is no need to worry.

Does a musician, however famous, not have the right to some private life as we ordinary folks have? I’m sure the absence of Roger is quite positive (for him) and that he will “spill the beans” and share the good news on his website when HE thinks the time is right. He has done it before.

” am currently on tour with Deep Purple standing in for Roger Glover. It has been an amazing experience so far. We started off in Crete at the Pankrito Stadium, Heraklion. I’d had a few weeks to learn the set but no actual rehearsal so the first show was a real baptism of fire! Thankfully, doing my homework paid off and the gig was amazing.
There are no monitors on stage, only side fills. Monitoring comes from the backline which in my case consists of 4 8×10 SWR Megalioth cabs powered by 4 x 1200w SWR heads. Loud is an understatement!
It’s been a real priviledge and honor to perform with this classic band. We are now in Israel and have two shows at the Roman Ampitheatre, Caesarea at the weekend.”

    Hi

I got this great news from Ian Gillan:

Hi Bo, Roger got himself pregnant again, but the gestation period for bass players is only three weeks so he should be back shortly. Cheers, ig

All the best to Roger and family:-)

I was a little bit worried when I read Roger didn’t play the last concerts. I’ve got a ticket for the Purpleconcert in december in Holland. In my opinion there’s only one Purple basplayer and that is offcourse Roger.

Congrats on the birth of another Glover……Roger!!!

I tried e-mailing you but your address has been changed since our last correspondence. Will be making the trip to the Illinois show on June 18th. Hope to celebrate with you and the boyz after the show. Hard to believe the last time we got to see you chat was 2007. Looking forward to drive and the show…..

    Cheers,

Your friends Tracy and Tina from Florida

    Hello Annemie….

Thanks for your concern. We are OK here. Yes, we actually do live in Tennessee now. The Florida thing is where we did live and had association with Roger.

    Cheers back to you….

Hi Max/Nick, thanks for letting us know about your dep job for Roger, what a faantastic experience it must be playing with Purple :o) You must be “no slouch” if you were able to step in with no rehearsal at such short notice. I’m amazed to hear that there is no monitoring, especially at such volume…how on earth do they hear each other properley (especially for the Steve/Don duels!!) Dood luck to you and I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in Rogers seat!!

    Cheers…
