Me and my brother started the trip to the venue in the late afternoon. As we were on our way to see the best band in the world, we listened to the king's fantastic music. From "Mandrake Root" to "The Purpendicular Waltz". We were also talking about a great subject: DEEP PURPLE! When we had reached our goal, we ate some food and locked the car. We entered the football stadium and walked right down to the middle of the stadium. Suddenly there was smoke on the stage and I thought: "Hey, this looks promising!!". I realised that this was a wrong thought and a lousy cover band called Rydell & Quick hit the stage. They did their show and were followed by another band (it is not worth telling the name) which were very tragical. In fact, the both bands played covers (can it be more interesting). Then there was a break and me and my brother walked all the way to the stage to wait for the gods, kings, heroes, (call them whatever you want) DEEP PURPLE!!! Suddenly it started to rain but it did not matter this evening.

One hour later

Suddenly there were screams and I looked in the left direction. A door was opened about thirty metres away and out came Ian Gillan, Steve Morse, Ian Paice, Roger Glover and Jon Lord, DEEP PURPLE!!! Suddenly they were up on stage and exploded into "Fireball". The band was in a hell of a mood and there were smiles everywhere (except Ian Gillan who first seems to be a little irritated about his hair, which was shorter than on the last tour). Suddenly Ian Gillan leaves stage for a very short time and comes out with a new shirt with the Purpendicular logo on it. The next song might be an italian ballad or a song about "a guy we met in a bar", "Vavoom: Ted the mechanic". A brilliant live number with a great opening by the ever-smiling Steve Morse. Next up: "Pictures of home", absolutely one of the evening's headlights. All guys did a breathtaking job. Time for "Black Night", and the audience sings all the time. "Cascades: I'm not your lover" is up next with some blending solo-works by Steve Morse and Jon Lord. How do they do it??? It ends with Steve knocking Jon's shoulder and both starts to laugh. Suddenly the roadies come up with two acoustic guitars on stands. Steve Morse and Roger Glover does the intro to "Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming". Ian Gillan (now in his usual smiling and joking mood, I thank yoooouuuuuuu!) does the usual amazing screams from the back of the stage. He introduces the next number as something like this "this is a song about a billion-dollar woman". Time to be delivered "Woman From Tokyo". Incredible!!! "No One Came" proves also to be one of the highlights of the evening. Steve M. introduces the next song on his guitar and suddenly we hear the intro to "Smoke On The Water". This is a different version of the song but still great. It is time for Jon's solo which is shorter and really not quite so good as the solo on "The Battle Rages On" Tour. But it doesn't matter, Jon is in top form and still the world's best keyboard player! Time for another fabulous song "When a blind man cries" with Ian Gillan as the star of the song (this man rules!!!). The last song before the encores is "Speed King" with a short but great drumsolo from Paicey, can it be better???

The Encores

It is time for "Perfect Strangers" and the crowd get's wild, and when I say wild I mean WILD!!! Incredible lightshow with Ian Gillan headbanging. Ian G. keeps saying that the audience is suberb and fantastic and Ian Paice (how can he be so good, he must be sleeping with his drums) starts "Highway Star", with all members giving it all!!! They seem to be so happy and they seems to be enjoying this so much. They thank all of us with a lot of smiles and they disappear out in the summer night, as the lights go out on the stage!!!

The Conclusion

There is nothing to say, they can't be better!!! Go and see them, you will not regret it, I promise!!!

DEEP PURPLE RULES!!!!!
