DP at Östermalms IP, Stockholm 27/6

I went to the concert just to here the last notes from Smokie (lucky me). The weather wasn't great but who cares when DP soon enters the stage. I didn't have high hopes about this gig, the last time I saw them was at Isstadion (Stockholm) at the "Battle Rages On" tour. No good at all. However i have fully enjoyed the _|_ album and I am looking forward to hear Steve Morse playing with the band.

DP enter the stage 8 o' clock and rips off fireball and then Ted The Mechanic. I think this take the breath of the audience. Paice and Glover pushes the beat in a manor I haven't heard since the 1972 era. Lord and Steve has a lot of fun and the sound is overall great. Gillans voice is fantastic and ........puh.... this is GREAT!!!

The public seems to be pretty sober at least if you compare with Karlshamn. DP looks a bit surprised that this audience having a "few beer good time" and not a "lot of beer where am I? time". They just laughes and telling jokes all the time between the numbers , and Ian keeps yelling "you are superb" all the time. A lot of happy faces on stage.

The concert set list is almost the same as in Karlshamn. They added No One Came and My Woman From Tokyo to the list and put Hey Cisco between Perfect Stranger and Highway Star at the encore. Ian had a short drumsolo in Speed King.

My personal view is that this is something! I haven't heard DP so good since the reunion of mark II 1984 ( this was even better). Steve Morse fits in very well. he has really "turned on" the band. Look at Lord for example. He's playing with a confidence I ever heard before and show he's technical skills with Steve brightly. Steve is fatastic he just "plays" the people to belive he's the new guitarist for DP. I don't miss RB at all! The very special with Steve is he's feeling for RB's good OLD solos. He plays them with care and with he's own style, brilliant!

However, I relly enjoyed this 2 h of rock and I think the rest of the audience did as well. If you are going to one of the remaining concerts, PLEASE don't get drunk, this band need all your respect.

See you in Uppsala......
