Worth the wait

This was worth waiting for!

It's been a week since Sanity in Australia delivered my copy of Bananas to me in Holland. So funny that you buy a CD at the other end of the world over the web, and it is 15% cheaper than in the local stores.

Bananas is the best titelsong Purple ever had on an album. The instrumental part at the end calls for a very long live version.

I like the "ballads" Haunted and Walk on, the latter better than the first, but that's personal taste. The only negative thing is Never a word, what does this song do on a Deep Purple album? I'd like to trade this song in together with the last track. It would have been much more complete with a studio version of the Well Dressed Guitar. That could well replace never a word and the instrumental fill up at the end of this record.

I was very curious having read the reviews of the summer tour concerts. The album kicks of in a real DP style with a lot of Gillan screams. His vocals are the best since years, is that production too? I feel a little sorry for Roger, but I have the opinion that the production by our new friend Mr. Bradford really makes a difference here. The album has got much more dynamics that any album since S&M, or mabye even the 1984 reunion.

Overall score for this album, to me is 8.5 out of 10. Still like Abandon better, but i will have Bananas in my cd-player for a while now.
