The lineup disappointingly looks more like the 1987 era hairspray Whitesnake than the old band. I've actually heard that David originally wanted to contact Bernie Marsden, Mickey Moody and the other oldboys from the "good old" Whitesnake, but that Geffen Records laid pressure on him to go for the commercially successful "hairfarm" version of the band. My source had it from Bernie Marsden himself.
At one point there were actually rumours about David Coverdale working with Ritchie Blackmore, and it looks like it nearly happened, too! Actually one of Whitesnake's gigs in Germany this summer was initially announced as "Whitesnake featuring Ritchie Blackmore".
There was a short European tour this summer to tie in with the release of the greatest hits package. The reception wasn't overwhelming. They've since played in Australia in November, but this is all I know.
The lineup from the short European tour;
David Coverdale (vocals)
Adrian Vandenberg (guitar)
Rudy Sarzo (bass)
Denny Carmassi (drums)
Warren De Martini (guitar)
Paul Mirkovich (keyboards)
