[ d e e p P u r . p l e ) The Highway Star

Well, I could mention each of the many times I've met (and often hung around) with DP members, but it would become boring and trite, so I'll give a brief overview.

I first started meeting members of DP in 1980, when IG guested at a rock night in Southport. He gladly signed autographs and chatted with the fans. Left in awe of such a great, down-to-earth guy, and, for the next 13 years each member has signed well over 100 autographs for me, often in one go, for which I'll always be grateful. Over the years, I've got drunk with Rainbow, gone to Rock in Rio and hung around with Whitesnake, given IG a lift back to his hotel after a club gig on the Garth Rockett tour (as well as watching him take a piss against a wall!), watched "Naked Thunder" take shape in the studio and heard about the videos DP made in the studios in the 70s (XXX-rated!). There have been many record-signing sessions in hotels (with drinks) and I have many fond memories of a great bunch of guys which will always be with me - I really do feel privileged to have been a part of it.

To all members (past and present) of DP, Whitesnake, Rainbow, Gillan - thanks!

Now if only DP would come to California!!!! (I moved from Liverpool 18 months ago, for those who remember the tall guy carrying 6 bags of records to gigs!).
