Slow Train review

Well I've heard it, and this is my (tentative) review of it : First of all, it's not slow at all, in fact it's fast! The riff is almost exactly the same as "Grabsplatter" (BBC 1969), then the song takes off with some lively vocals which reminded me of JCS. Beautiful drum work, and what impressed me the most was the sound. Whoever did the mixing (;-) did a very good job indeed, it's clear, loud and crisp, sounds almost like it was recorded along with "Purpendicular", not Fireball 25 years earlier (I kid you not!). Big surprise is the solo, which is not one at all, but a great guitar/hammond interplay (ie they take solos in turn), fantastic! Makes you wonder why they'd left it off the album in the first place, I guess there were only so many good songs that could fit in a 40 minute slab of vinyl... Nice phasing effects in places, and the song ends with a bang, not fading out. Overall, it's very powerful and energetic sounding, and should prove a real bonus for potential purchasers of F25. Do keep in mind that I've only heard it twice, and that I'm not allowed to make copies. Thanks.
