I can sum up the Washington DC concert in one word: unfuckingbelievable!!!!!!!

Despite being the owner of numerous boots of recent DP concerts, I was not prepared for how awesome the new DP is live. I think it hit me right around the time that the soft part of "Woman From Tokyo" goes crashing back into the hard rock part. That moment was transcendent, and certainly far above anything I remember from the 1985 tour, no matter how good that was. From there on, I was on this rollercoaster ride of a show, despite basically knowing what was going to come next in the setlist!!!

Here's the setlist, more or less in order:

• The Aviator
• Rosa's Cantina

I knew that The Aviator had been played in Japan recently, but Hush was quite a surprise as the opener (I hadn't read reviews of Hartford before seeing the show).

As you can see, the show was a bit shorter than on the European leg of the tour, with fewer _I_ songs being played. I do think it would be neat if DP would put on an "Evening With DP" show, and dispense with opening bands. I'm sure I could handle 2.5-3 hours of DP!!!

Overall, I would have to say, admiringly, that the band has grown much tighter and more adventurous than even in March of this year, based on my boot of the Brixton Academy show. Steve and Jon really have a chemistry now that I have never seen two musicians share onstage. In fact, it's almost scary, it's so good.

I have other commitments for the date of the York, PA show, but I may just have to break them.... :-)
