Ireland & UK 2002 reviews

A memory that'll last for years

I have read all the other reviews so I will not bore anyone with the running order, I just felt compelled to say that after many years of Purple People watching. whether it be with Rainbow, Gillan, etc, that I have never witnessed such a totally superb concert. The skill with which each band member performed made me feel truly privileged. To watch.five blokes each skilled in their art to levels way in excess of the norm, and then to do it while having fun...

Great drum solo - including a one handed drum roll at electrifying speed.

Have to give a special mention to Ian Gillan. Seen him countless times but his voice this night brought tears to my eyes from total power. Child In Time - how can he still sing it?. When A Blind Man Cries and his beautiful blues voice... On Fools he was so close to the album version you would have thought he recorded it three years ago not 30.

I came expecting to be disappointed and left with a grin that will last for weeks and a memory that will last for years.

Martin O'Brien
