Just got back from trip to Asia where I took time to see Rainbow for 2 night engagement at Yoyogi Olympic Pool in Tokyo. Who the hell is Valentine? Can report That first night was nostalgic, with plenty of old and new tunes, but the second night was really the best. Play list did not vary much from what the review from Stockholm? shows on hte first night with the only exception being only Burn was played for the encore. Second night was much better, although I can definitely say the show was not sold out, 2/3 full would be much more accurate (there were even empty seats in the ochestra). Second night they added Rainbow Eyes, Since You've Been Gone and Nazareth's Love Hurts (with only Ritchie playing background) to the regular set. Encore set started with Stone Cold and then went into Woman from Tokyo (much appreciated by local crowd) before leaving and coming back with Burn and Smoke on the Water. Concert ended with the audience singing "Smoke on the Water, a fire in the sky" and the band just wathcing. When the singing faded, TMIB simply placed his guitar on the drum set, lay prone on his stomach with arms outstretched to the audience, got up and left. Show lasted close to 2 1/2 hours and was great experience.
