Hi everyone,

How do you do? This is my first post to this group (Thanks, Trond!) and I feel amazing for that. Anyway, I have just listened to my DAT's from first two shows of Rainbow in Japan. Below are the setlists. Since I do not know the titles of traditional songs they sang, I did not include them at all. Anyway, enjoy!!

*** November 11th, 1995 ***

VENUE : Yoyogi Olympic Pool, Tokyo, Japan

TAPE : captured from *far* left of the 2nd floor. A bit distant but clear enough.

NOTE : Finally, Ritchie came back to Japan! First show of Japan tour is a good show with warm welcome from the audience! In Long Live..., Doogie let the left side audience sing Long Live Rock'n' Roll chorus and, at the same time, let the right side audience sing the chorus of Black Night (Can you imagine?). In Ariel, Candice appeared on the stage but, personally, I felt a bit boring with her background chorus... Burn was only encore. Audience went nuts with that first riff!

SETLIST:

Intro Over The Rainbow Spotlight Kids Too Late For Tears Long Live Rock'n'Roll (incl. Black Night, Woman From Tokyo) Hunting Humans Wolf To The Moon Difficult To Cure Keyboard Solo Still I'm Sad Drum Solo Guitar inprovisation Man On The Silver Mountain Temple Of The King Black Masquerade Guitar Solo (a bit of Power riff) Ariel (w/ Candice Night on background vocal) Since You've been Gone Perfect Strangers Hall Of The Mountain King encore: Burn Outro

VENUE : Yoyogi Olympic Pool, Tokyo, Japan

TAPE : captured from a bit left of the 1st floor. A bit distant but clear and lively recording. Better than that from the previous show.

NOTE : Fantastic show with many big surprises! At the first part of the show; in Spotlight Kids, there was a big trouble with Ritchie's guitar and he went back to the stage side after the song. Immidiately the remainder members of the band started Rainbow Eyes as a filler for Ritchie's absence. They apparently well-rehearsed that song for a rainy day, I guess! Street Of Dreams was undoubtedly my highlights (one of my favorite song.)! At the end of the song, Doogie requested Ritchie to play Stone Cold but he refused then. However, they did that song as the first song of 1st encore! Fortunately (?), Candice did not appear on Ariel for this time!

SETLIST:

Intro Over The Rainbow Spotlight Kids Rainbow Eyes (w/o Ritchie) Too Late For Tears Long Live Rock'n'Roll (incl. Black Night) Hunting Humans Wolf To The Moon Difficult To Cure Keyboard Solo Still I'm Sad Drum Solo Man On The Silver Mountain Temple Of The King Black Masquerade Ariel Street Of Dreams Since You've been Gone Perfect Strangers Hall Of The Mountain King 1st encore: Stone Cold Burn 2nd encore: Maybe Next Time Woman From Tokyo Smoke On The Water Outro

By the way, one of my friends is on his journey now to see/tape all of Rainbow Japan shows. Since he does not have a DAT recorder, he brought mine to tape the shows. I did not get any of them yet but I will send setlists as soon as I get masters. (I will get all DAT masters and will provide him cassette copies.) I believe I will be able to send the complete setlists from Japan tour so the subject line is "Rainbow set lists in Japan - part 1"!! Thanks for the reading!

Later,

---Yas

P.S. There is a tour book for Rainbow Japan tour '95. I got my copy but I am not sure if I will be able to get another copy or two.....
