[ d e e p P u r . p l e ) The Highway Star

Birmingham NEC 15/10/98

Deep Purple are a band on form & having a blast.

From the first note of Ted the Mechanic to the last of Highway Star it is obvious from the smiles and band interaction with each other that they are genuinely having a good time.

What a difference from the HOBL tour in Edinburgh 85 when Blackmore played with his back to the audience for virtually the whole gig.

The musicianship was suberb with Jon and Steves keyboard/guitar duals a pleasure to behold. Ian Gillan's vocals were brilliant and his Harp on Lazy supreme. Ian Paice and Roger Glover were tremendous. The Sound was crystal clear and the balance was just right with no one instrument dominating the mix.
All in all a concert to remember.

Only complaint would be the white lights at the end of each number that were directed on to the audience and into our eyes, very uncomfortable.

Catch this Band on Tour......you wont regret it
