[ d e e p P u r . p l e ) The Highway Star

Worth every penny

I won't bother posting the set list. I think enough people have covered that. What I will say is Deep Purple put on one hell of a performance. The band sounded tight, and Ian's vocals soared into the cloudy sky. Although the set list was short, it was a great selection of rockin' tunes. I only wish that the mostly Lynyrd Skynyrd fan crowd gave Deep Purple a little stronger response. It did not take anything away from the show for me though. Highlights for me were "Fools", Lazy", and "Pictures Of Home". One of the things that makes Deep Purple such a great band is they are not afraid to pull out songs the average person would not know. This Deep Purple fan can only hope that Purple comes back through the states without having to share a double bill. Skynyrd is a very good band, but Deep Purple should not share the stage with any other headlining band. Especially a southern rock band. The 75 minute set was still worth every penny.
