I arrived at the Sporthalle at 8:30 pm. No chance of getting a beer because there were at least 100 people queuing up. The band started at 9:15 and got a loud welcome.
IG introduced Cascades as being inspired from a pub called "The Queen's Head". At this there was laughter from the rest of the band and Ian corrected the pub's name to "The Queen's Leg" a few songs later. The Aviator is now in the set, unfortunately SM didn't use the acoustic guitar for the intro, but I enjoyed the song. IG introduced SK as not being a ballad but a lullaby that he is singing for his daughter every night. This inspired JL for a wonderful introduction, a well known lullaby with a name I've actually forgotten. Highlights for me were Woman From Tokyo, No One Came, SK and especially the encores. The show lasted for approx. 115 minutes and I really love them for touring that much this year. It was my fifth Purpendicular show, you shouldn't compare it with Montreux but it's great to watch those guys on stage and I'm looking forward to Cologne tomorrow night.
