Energy and life

Deep Purple played their first ever gig in Ireland on monday night and boy what a night it was.from the opening chords of Woman From Toyko to the thunderous end to Highway Star, it was one of the greatest gigs ever witnessed on these shores.

It was great to see the guys really enjoying themselves onstage and responding to the crowd, not like the Blackmore era when they seemed to just go through the motions. The more I see of Steve Morse, I have become a big fan of his playing. He has injected so much energy and life into the band.

Ian's voice was spot on and Roger, Jon and Ian were as solid as ever.

Here is a sample of the set list (not in order)
Woman From Tokyo
No One Came
The Aviator
Perfect Strangers
A new song? (Up The Wall)
Child In Time
Speed King
When A Blind Man Cries
Ted The Mechanic
Lazy
Smoke On The Water
Fools
Encore:
Hush
Highway Star

Thanks for a great gig Deep Purple. I hope we don't have to wait as long for the next gig.

Keep on rockin,

Brendan Maguire
