Steve the aviator

If there’s another thing about which Steve Morse is as passionate as about his guitar playing, it’s flying planes.

Last summer, while on tour in Italy, he managed to find time to slip across the border to Slovenia to visit Pipistrel, a light aircraft manufacturing company of which he’s a happy customer. Of course, it helps somewhat when CEO of the company happens to be a Deep Purple fan 😉

Read (and look at itsy bitsy pictures) about the visit on the company website.

Thanks to Yvonne Osthausen for the info.

I remember back when Purple were so big, they actually had there own Tour Jet which sported the Purple Logo and huge words Deep Purple across both sides of the plane. Steve should paint his plane Purple, put the logo on the tail and pilot the band from gig to gig. Then he could benefit from both passions while on tour. Playing and Flying. Flying Colors? Flying Purple!

I remember that plane also, so many of the great bands back then had their own transport! Iron Maiden did that back in 2008/9, Bruce Dickinson was the pilot I believe, classic! It sort of looked out of place when arriving & departing the airports! It was a 70’s thing of course, so a band doing it recently is something we don’t see often, if at all! Morse could do it no doubt! Cheers.
