I don't care what anyone says, but you will never emulate a vintage amp to the letter simply with a pedal. It just can't be done. There's no way to replicate a 60's plexi in a damn stompbox, I'm sorry.

yeah the es335 was a kinda late 60's and very early 70's blackmore sound he did not like the tremelo or i guess he might have stuck with it ................ also to note i have seen pictures from the early mk2 lineup and ritchie might have had the first strat with humbuckers yeah check it out so he might have been using that strat in the studio one never knows right ?????????????????????????

I once got a comment that an original solo I'd done on a recording "sounds like Ritchie Blackmore". It was simply direct-injection with only a Boss distortion/feedbacker pedal and a '57 Stratocaster.

It's more a matter of touch than equipment. Blackmore would sound like Blackmore on anything--but a special pedal is a nice short-cut without having to blow the roof off the house I suppose. I once did such an experiment and had to quit when the window glass began to rattle out of the frames. Now THAT'S science!

Dirk's Les Paul comment was very interesting. Blackmore's best MkII playing was on that old ES-335, and I miss those days. The reel-to-reel was another astute observation, since that tape delay also had a lot to do with Blackmore's sound.

It is not that simple with a strat and a Marshall. Read BSMs feature closely. There is not A Marshall but a lot of different types. You won´t get a great Blackmore sound out of a JCM 2000 if you are not Ritchie himself. And even he used a very special Marshall (Major) which is more like a Monster Hifi Amp.
If you´re a damn good player you can use a Les Paul and a Fender Twin and get a Blackmore Tone. But it is mostely a good idea to buy one of BSMs Trebelboosters. Ritchie used them (old stuff of course), he knew what a treble booster or a Reel-to-reel-Preamp could do to your sound.
So, the 71/73 pedal is a real thrill. Go get one, when available.

@9 soon to be a "Cash in the Attic" item! Collector's dream if there ever was one--they sound great huh! Although do not stack them up and plug in the Strat--only works with the Marshall's.

The formula is a simple one. Plug a Stratocaster into an old Marshall stack and turn it up full and you're close to "that classic Blackmore sound".

I have a set of those J33 speakers ;) ;)
