When i listen to, for example, Space Truckin´ off DP in concert the same thing always seem to happen: despite the brilliant solos on organ and guitar, after a few minutes all i hear is the drums... And 37(!) years down the line he still manages to do the same thing for me. What other drummer can. Or could. This performance of his of Speed King is just...amazing. What a drummer. What a musician. Oh dear GOD!

Sounds as if he's just going for it, as opposed to sounding like he's playing what he's told to play. Same as the rehearsal version of 'Battle Rages On'; it's so hard and heavy and they all sound as though they really mean it. If I thought I was going to hear him going for it, I'd go and watch him play every time they toured - I just don't feel it happens now. A Great Display of the energy injected into these great players sparked by the Happiness that has been blessed unto the great band Deep Purple. Great to see Paicey just having fun and enjoying even further, playing the songs of Deep Purple, even when he has time to himself between tours. Nice versions of these songs also....
