Made in Wales

Back in 2003 ITV1 Wales did a documentary on Roger Glover. Now, with it’s appearance on Youtube, all of us who missed it on TV and on the bootlegger’s grapevine, have a chance to see it.

Thanks to landinleonardo for the upload and to Andrey Gusenkov for spotting it.

Nick Simper was and is even nicer.
Is she a MK 1 fan first?

I endorse the rehabilitation fund to restore all Nick and Rods rights to the royalties.

Its an old discussion, I know.

Rod did a bad bad thing…….I know

    Although……

In retro perspective I does not seem that unusual what he did.
In later years lots of bands said that THEY could handle the NAME rightfully because one or more members of former line ups were involved.

Nick and Rod have helped making the BASIS of everything after. They were part of the ORIGINAL band we love.
3 great albums they have helped deliver.
Often underrated, neglected or dismissed, those 3 are KILLER CLASSICS.

Instead of strangling me for all my critics Ian Gillan should and ought to endorse my statements.

But hell, he screwed the Gillan band members, so,,,,,what to expect?

Show a BIG HEART, look like that great Indian Chief again, and share your wealth with the ones which got hurt and disadvantaged along YOUR way.

Why should they be dismissed and denied their part of the pudding, sorry Tracy could not resist……, and EAT it????!!!

So many skilful fingers in the band, but I still think that man has got so much of its heart, mind and soul

Tracy Heyder aka Zero the Hero says:

#9..Gillan owes nothing to Simper or Evans. They may have been in the original line-up, but they were compensated for that then, and then sacked. Contracts back then were not very Band Friendly, and once you sign on the dotted line, it’s too late…TOOOO LATE!!!! No Laughing in Heaven. Yeah, they are classics albums those 3, but can you imaging how good they would have been had they been recorded with Glover and Gillan? Just look at how much better “The Bird Has Flown” sounds with the Gillan version. As far as what Evans did in 1980, with the Bogus Purple effort, I don’t hold that against him at all. Purple officially called it quits in 1976, and after 4 years of each member being committed to their own separate projects, and Purple being gone, I actually give him credit for trying to give it a shot. The problem I have with it is the lame effort he put forth in putting together his ensemble. He had such a great band with Captain Beyond earlier on, and then to attempt the Purple thing in such a slighted effort was the problem. You have to give him credit for one thing though, I believe that incident probably helped jump-start the Purple Reunion in 1984, and that is a good thing….which is like Pudding on the Cake. (Just for you Priest).

    Cheers

    @ 11

Wasnt it Gillan who first decided not to sing with DP because he felt that there was more money in Episode 6 at that moment~?

Only recently I understood that he could have been the first singer after all.

Although I m a fan of Rod I sure agree that Gillan THEN could have done a great job by redoing some of them.

Live he did with MANDRAKE ROOT for a long time and thats a killer version.
Always doubting which live version I prefer.

In 1980 when I bought the vinyl of In Concert the live take was a very first for me.
Now we are spoiled beyond believe with so many issued material
I think I feel the most for Stockholm 1970 at the moment, ofcourse also because of the THEN great live extensions
And that without a visit to the gym, hehehe

What I meant to say, naive soul as I am, that should have the HEART to say ….

I m rich enough to share a bit of my wealth with people who got terribly side lined.

But I seem to remember to Ian Gillan once said in an interview….

    I m a capitalist.

So, it was merely MY OWN WAY OF DEALING WITH PEOPLE that caused this one….

    Hi Evo

There are different stories about it
MY feeling is Ian shortchanged his fellow band members.
But perhaps CG or someone else here has a better idea?
