"Hush" (written by Joe South) was the big hit on DP's first album, "Shades of Deep Purple." Rod would do two more albums with the band before leaving (or maybe being fired) and replaced by Ian Gillan around 1969. Rod went on to form Captain Beyond, recording two albums with that band. CB's biggest hits probably were "Dancing Madly Backwards" and "Sufficiently Breathless."
