I’m more and more impressed by Gillan’s vocal capabilities! For a man at his age, it really should be impossible to sing like that! But…it’s not:-)

Thank you guys, for giving us so much joy for so many years! Keep it up!!!

2007….A GREAT YEAR FOR “Purple People”!!!!!

Got to see them and hang out with them twice this year. Once in Atlanta, and once in St. Louis (See Tour Reviews). Both shows different and both great. Ian Paice signed my Snare Drum Head, (Great Christmas Present). Got some great Pics with the band and some others signed from past meet and greets. THANKS GUYS!!!!
There were many great media releases too this year for those of us who can’t seem to get enough, such as the Montreux DVD’s and Jon Lord’s “Hootchie Coochie Men” release. Plus all the great info posted on this great site throughout the year due to the tireless effort from the true fans who run this site. Not to mention the introduction of the Official Deep Purple Website. Yes, 2007 was a great year for Purple and I believe the ride is nowhere near it’s end.

Cheers to all in the New Year and Thanks to the Highway Star for keeping us in touch with this Awesome Band that just keeps on keepin’ on.

Great Stuff! How about Minnesota in 2008? It was announced that you would be here with Def Leppard in 2007, but a couple of months before the gig your name was dropped. 🙁

    James Gemmell says:

With YouTube and Mp3 around, perhaps Purple can start doing what it did in the early 1970’s: making a couple albums per year. In other words, bypass the record label and simply go into the studio, make some new music and post the end product on YouTube as videos. Rather than fans having to wait two or three years for Purple to come around to their town or three or four years between new albums, the band could better reach out to its fans by producing new music on a regular basis. Like in the old days. Some bands are already doing this.

    Seven-47 says:

    Mr. James Gemmell;

I like the way you think, very astute!

Merry XMAS and a very Happy New Year to the Highway Star staff and to all Purple Fans all over the globe.

A special heartfelt thanks to the staff that make this wonderful site possible.

Saw the lads and met them in Australia earlier this year, the absolute highlight of my year. They were fantastic both on and off stage. Unbelievably gracious.

Here’s to a new album by the Best Rock Band ever.

Many thanks for these awesome clips.

    Chip Tarbutton says:

These clips are great…what a band!

How does someone sound better in 2007 than in 1987? How does a band with this much experience stay so fresh and exciting? How can DP so lucky to have picked up Morse and Airey? Why am I so blessed to be a fan?

Don’t know the answers but I’m glad!!!

Merry Christmas and Have a blessed New Year DP. I really hope y’all put out another album this year as ROTD is the best Purple record since the 70s. Just me being greedy….but DP sounds amazing and is on fire….remarkable.

If DP were baseball players, they would be accused of taking HGH. 🙂

Can’t wait to see what comes of the 40th anniversary….thanks for being the soundtrack for my life…it means a lot!

    Roberto says:

this line up paly these song(in particular the battle rages on) really too slow.
Why?they are becoming a little bit boring!

  22. 22
    Roberto says:

this line up play these songs(in particular the battle rages on) really too slow.
Why?they are becoming a little bit boring!

  23. 23
    Alexander says:

To the automatic bandrecording of Roberto ,

‘The Battle Rages On’ was played even more slow in 1993, and also great.
Never noticed that D.P. always change their songs in all kind of variations?
They make this unlimited improvisations , so that their songs never become boring.

By the way…are you the guy that never ‘judge people’ and is ‘not better then somebody else’ ???

Anyway, Happy 2008, also to all the more clever fans !

  24. 24
    Tech.Athenaeum says:

    Right you are, Alexander!

    Roberto,

This DP line up never is or will be boring…You sound very dull this recent times, you should be more concerned how you will become in the future!

  25. 25
    Jan says:

    Mr.Roberto,

    You will soon grow old!

  26. 26
    purplepriest1965 says:

    Everything will grow old……………
    me too……

    Sob sob…………..

    The end of 2008

And my love for OLD DP still lingers on with a fiery passion…………

    People are strange………….

  27. 27
    Charris says:

    Dear Purplepriest,

‘ You will soon grow old’ is an expression in English you know. It just means that someone becomes boring very quickly.
My pasion is ‘one fire’ for Deep Purple Now and Forever!!!!
    Also, a very happy 2008!

  28. 28
    purplepriest1965 says:

I already know/knew that expression, Mister Clever.

That’s why I responded to that.

And for the ZILLIONTH time : You do NOT know me at all.

I am not only into OLD DP.

I regularly express my sympathies for new music.
    For example :
    Ane Brun, Riverside, Tamelot

Maybe you like to provoke me in a certain debate?
    Why?

    Am I boring?
    Why then react?

    It’s all very subjective.

  29. 29
    purplepriest1965 says:

    I meant KAMELOT, ofcourse.

    hehehe

  30. 30
    Charris says:

    To Purplepriest,

I’m not a mister but a miss. ( a blond one, so I CAN’T be clever …) I tried for good, meaning you were not boring, reading your phrase ‘everything will grow old…me too …’ The rest of it is not addressed to me I guess, I don’t know anything about your symphaties for new music!
    Sorry for the misunderstanding!

  31. 31
    purplepriest1965 says:

    Ok, Charris

Always nice to meet a Lady Rocker……………

    Well, sometimes, hehehe
