I'm 24 y.o.

I know nobody my age who likes DP. I've been called "unusual" a lot due to my musical taste but I've given up caring what others think [about that anyway]
I like songs that make me think, cheer me up & give me a shiver down my spine which DP, Sabbath, Maiden, etc. do.
I hope I'll get to see them live before I'm too infirm to, & perhaps meet them.

i am 36 years old (born in 1971).
i am from HELLAS (Greece to the others), i have two sons and i'm a DEEP PURPLE fun since my 14, when i first heard smoke on the water. I hope my sons will continue my craziness about the music i love. I collect every pequliar DP (and family) staff i can find. My favourite the Black Sabbath bootleg "Ghicago 1983" where someone can hear Gillan performing the BS songs much better than Ozzy (Yes, Dio is better than Ozzy in BS, because he can sing). I have more, but work hard all and can't enjoy them as i wish to do, together with my kids. Their mother doesn't like hat kind of music, but she can't do anything. HE!HE!

Ian Gillan said that back when "The House of Blue Light" came out, MTV said they would no longer play any new Deep Purple because they were too old!!! What a bunch of sissies! DP is still touring and recording. MTV as we knew it no longer exists.

Maybe they should have played that DP.

In 1977 I was only 12 and never listened to music..........That all changed when i heard "Live in japan"!!!!

In that time it was very unfashionable HERE to love bands like DP and I was ofcourse very young, while some friends of mine exopertienced the early 70's.
I got in that late that I never saw Rainbow with Dio or the very early Whitesnake and Gillan. !!!!!!! I still hate that. Although I have seen thousands of gigs since that is still ........
And now I'm 42, sort of boring old fart myself............

It's intriguing to think what drew people of each age. Given that DPs obvious rise to fame was, what say 1970 -71, that still makes today's 40 year-old too young to have been much influenced, I'd have thought. Those who were 14-21 then would be - well I'm cr*p at maths, but you get my point: most of us date from after then.

I know it's good to have young fans, but also I think you have to keep in mind that it is possible to be over 60 and still vaguely cool. Not that I can think of anyone, but... :)

Well I'm turning 41 next month, and been DP fan since I was twelve when my brother brought to house When we rock, we rock, and when we roll, we roll, and loved the music. I still believe it's true, because when they rock, They Rock!, and when they roll, They Roll! (Like Ian Paice with one hand).

Young guys have to be taught about good music, because in this days marketing had become more important than music.

I just went to see them in San Diego, and there was just few young guys around there.

Now I'm 19 and I'm a fan since my 6th birthday(got my first dp cd made in japan). Since that day I play the drums. My first concert was in 1996 in Berlin and last year it was my 10th in Berlin, too! I have 10 DP-Fan-friends they are between 18 and 22 years old.

Well, I'm 48, and as long as the boys in the band feel young enough to tour, I'm young enough to go to the shows. My 13 year old son went to the London, Ontario show with me this tour and just loved it. A new fan. No matter how old we are, the quality of the music and the playing will draw the people. The energy the band put out in the second half of the show, after initial sound problems, was just incredible. Deep Purple is still one of the best, if not the best, live band going. Keep on rockin' .

I've been a fan since 16, now with 45. In december I went to a concert in Vitória, Brazil with my daughter. She was 17 and enjoyed the show. She loves all the guys in the band, specially Gillan and Blackmore (- What a pity he didn't come, daddy!).

I´m 16 years old and i´m portuguese and Deep Purple is my favourite musical band. Unfortunately i never saw a live concert of DP in Portugal. They came last year in Portugal but it was in the south of the country, far to me and in the other 2 times that they came to Lisbon i was very young. I hope that they return to Portugal to a concert in the end of the year after of the concerts in France. It would be amazing!
Deep Purple has fans of every ages around the world and this is awesome!

Obviously Gillan was not wrong with his theory. As is he saying,"it is incredibile",to see enjoing their music different generations together. At least in Central and Eastern Europe,I have not seen them anywhere else.
By the way I have seen picture of publicum from the stage when Purple played at 07.10.06 in Kosice,Slovakia.Belive or not-they were all teenagers in front of crowd trying to get as close to Purple as possibile.

Loved Purple from '68 Kentucky Woman on. Saw them live in May 1971 at Randwick Racecouse with Free and Manfred Man. Lost interest when Richie Left and now regret I didn't see late nineties concerts with Steve Morse, who revitatised the band. I have since revisited all their music and have every studio album and a half a dozen live albums, sorry CD's, I am getting old.
Saw them in Brisbane last year. They were great.

At both of the DP shows I've been to (in 2002 and 2004), the crowds were dominated by a lot of chrome domes and gray beards. The band still rocked, though.

I brought my 4 year old son last year, and he loved it. I won`t consider him a fan though, but he is really into good rock `n`roll music. Tonight he borrowed Gillan`s Inn to play when he went to bed, He just loves "Roller"

I have been a Purple Maniac since 1974 my 14 year old daughter has been to a DP concert anmd my 9 year old son wants to go next time aorund! DP are ageless as are their fans.

At the 1999 Albert Hall In Concerto concert I sat next to a family with 3 generations of fans.

Keep rock and rolling on!

Been a fan since the release of In Rock. I was 13 at the time. Am now 50. My 16 year old niece wants to go see Deep Purple live the next time they come close to here (Alberta,Canada). I have a good buddy who has 3 boys aged 8 and 10 who listen to Deep Purple because of a Dodge car commerical that featured parts of Smoke on the Water. He dug out a old LP and had them listen to the whole song. They like all the music. Goes to show that great music is timeless and ageless.

Lots and lots of kids at the Warfield show.

Thank you Deep Purple for playing more new songs than usual on the North American tour. What a great concert, but the opening act was bad.

I was feeling quite young at the DP show in San Diego last week. However, I felt pretty darn old at the Iron Maiden show I went to last October. I'm 31. Both bands still great at any age.

The Fireball concert at the Royal Albert Hall London 1971.

Deep purple sure is one of the best bands in the world, and playing for nearly 40!!! years now, they have collected a few fans of all ages...
In Holland I see all kinds of people at the concerts of DP, Old people, for the memory, and young, because DP is cool!!!
I'm 30 right now and I enjoy the music from the 70's and the newer albums
are just as good!!!
And a funny thing to mention:
I went to an open air festival a few years ago, DP as headliner,
I went with my wife and son, he was 1 year old, and enjoyed it!!!!!

I’m 30 right now and I enjoy the music from the 70’s and the newer albums
are just as good!!!

mmm... I don't know how old are DP fans in other countries, but in Georgia (Caucasus) their age begins from 13-14 to 50. As for me, I'm 19.

Fun idea, but the result cant be a surprise. There are young kids around to a DP concert but I'm sure they are together with their parents. If I'm wrong I'm happy. DP a lightyears better than 99% of hard rock groups of today. If not 100%.
