He was a very famous Singer and Songwriter in Germany, but for "Schlager" which means very simple popsongs, chansons. He lived his live with a lot of excesses (Sexual, drugs a.s.o.....), but some of his songs and a lot of songs he wrote for other where very famous. In the Sixties he had a great hit in Germany with "Marmor, Stein und Eisen bricht", which had a real hard rockig touch.
