List of Jap video covers (uploaded 04..11.02.) Notes by Mamoru Watanabe The list of the image files and catalogue details are as follows. These are earlier releases than the catalogue numbers mentioned in the photocopied videography [see the bottom of this file - akiko]. [He also apologised that some of the images didn't come out very well due to the reflection of the flash, etc.] ------------------------- << Concerto for Group and Orchestra >> Japanese title: "DEEP PURPLE & THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA / Live at the Royal Albert Hall, Sept., 1969" 1) TOEI Video, 1985, TE-M331 [1VHS] file name: DP1969VHS (original VHS release) 2) PIONEER LDC,1994, PILP-2020 [1LD] file name: DP1969LD01 (this one could be a re-release.) 3) VAP (re-release), 199? VPVR-60824 [1VHS] / VPVR-70620 [1LD] file name: DP1969LD02 (LD) (Re-releases with different covers. I don't have these, so I have found these catalogue numbers from other videographies. Release date unknown. The image file I have "borrowed" from an auction site...) ------------------------- << Doing Their Thing >> 1) SUNCROWN, 1990, CRVR-80001 [1VHS] / CRLR-80001 [1LD] file names: DPdoingVHS (VHS)/ DPdoingLD (LD - as I don't have a copy of the LD, I "borrowed" the image from an auction site and retouched it.) *As I said in my previous mail, I am guessing the release date from that of other titles in the same series. *I had said "this one was only released once" but I have since found other catalogue numbers mentioned: Japan Crown 199? TEVP-45027 [1VHS] / TELP-45027 [1LD] [deleted] I don't know the release date. ------------------------- << Machine Head Live 1972 >> 1) VAP, 1992, VPLR-70180 [1LD] *As I said in my mail, this is the only copy I have. I still haven't found my copy of the original VHS release (1987?) ------------------------- << Live at the California Jam >> Japanese title (for the original release): "ROCK FLASHBACK DEEP PURPLE California Jam, April 6th 1974" 1) TOEI Video, 1983, TE-M524 [1VHS] file name: DP1974VHS 2) TOEI Video, 198?, TE-D007 [1LD] file name: DP1974LD *LD: the format was still not around in 1983, so I believe the LD version came out a few years later. After 1990 the cover has changed to the one that's on your page, so I think this one must have come out some time in the 80s. *VHS: I assumed the release date to be 1983, since the enclosed brochure for other titles was for 1983, but there is a possibility that this title had in fact come out earlier. It also has another number in brackets, (C3-3006): this could possibly be the catalogue number for the Betamax version (I do know it was available on Beta as well), though I cannot say for sure. ------------------------- << RISES OVER JAPAN -HIGHWAY STAR- >> 1) WARNER MUSIC VIDEO(WARNER-PIONEER), 1985, 07WV-36 [1VHS] / 07WX-36 [1Beta] File name: DP1975VHS (VHS) *Please refer to my previous mail. The catalogue number which I said could have been for LD or VHD, turns out to be for the Betamax version (07WX-36). ------------------------- << The Videosingles >> 1) VIDEOARTS JAPAN, 1987, VAH-0074 [1VHS] / VAL-3074 [1LD] file name: DPtvsLD (LD) *See my previous mail for details. I have found my VHS copy in the mean time. It has another number, VAB-0074, on it, which I am not sure what for (possibly a Betamax version?) ------------------------- << HALLELUJAH >> 1) PIONEER LDC, 1990, PIFP-1004 [1CDV] file name: DPbeatCDV *See my previous mail for details ------------------------- << BEAT-CLUB REVOLUTION OF HARD ROCK >> 1) LDC, 1988, HM048-3225 [1VHS]/ SM048-3225 [1LD] filenames: VAbeatVHS (VHS) / VAbeatLD (LD) *A compilation of 12 tracks. Track 1 is "No No No", Track 2 is "Hallelujah". On the inside liner notes, as well as on the label of the videocassette, another number (BM048-3225) is mentioned. I'm not sure what it's for, but it could be a Betamax version. ------------------------- << BEAT-CLUB SPECIAL 2 >> 1) PIONEER LDC, 1990, LPR-013 [1LD] file name: VAbeatLDS *This 3-track compilation was not for sale but came with some Beat-Club deal (I've forgotten the details.) Track 1 is "Highway Star". Only the above catalogue number is mentioned on the cover, but in the liner notes there is another number, LPR-014. As I know there is a VHS version of this, so this number could be for that. ------------------------- << New, Live and Rare - The Video Collection >> 1) Label unknown, 2002, catalogue number unknown [1DVD] file name: DPnlr1DVD (Vol.1) 2) Label unknown, 2002, catalogue number unknown [1DVD] file name: DPnlr2DVD (Vol.2) I was browsing through an import shop's website, when I came across these Brazilian DVDs. I checked the contents, and it turns out that they have divided the official release DVD into vols. 1 & 2 and released them separately. Obviously I didn't buy them, so I don't have the label & catalogue number details. I am just passing on the cover images, as I don't remember seeing these on THS. ------------------------- The following are videos included in the discography in the Ritchie Blackmore book (Shinko Music, 1998), which are either not mentioned above or have different catalogue numbers. (I haven't compared these with the mail I forwarded you last week - so please check that as well.) 1. "Heavy Metal Pioneers" (Warner Vision Japan, AMVY-8088 [VHS]* / AMLY-8088 [LD]*) 2. Various Artists: "Hard Rock Heaven" (Polygram, VAVZ-2085 [VHS] / VALZ-2085 [LD]) - includes the promotional film for "Black Night". 3. "Machine Head Live 1972" (VAP, VPVR-60640 [VHS] in addition to the LD mentioned above.) 4. "1974 California Jam" (VAP, VPVR-67645 [VHS] / VPVR-70114 [LD]) - these are obviously re-releases, with a slightly different Japanese title from the original release mentioned above. 5. "Come Hell or High Water" (BMG Japan, BVVP-115 [VHS] / BVLP-115 [LD]) - well, actually, the "Japanese titles" I have included on this list (and in the forwarded mail) are "English titles in Japan. Some of the releases have additional Japanese titles, which I am ignoring here. This is one of those... 6. Various Artists: "Greatest Video Single" (Polygram, POVP-1604 [VHS] / POLP-1507 [LD]) - no, it's not a typo. It is written in singular! Includes: Bad Attitude, Call Of The Wild, Perfect Strangers, Knocking At Your Back Door, Nobody's Home 7. Various Artists: "The Earthquake" (BMG Japan, BVVP-26 [VHS] / BVLP-26 [LD]) - it's the "Making of Smoke On The Water"
