Lyrics:

The best place to get the lyrics, is naturally our very own Lyrics page on the
Deep Purple WWW-pages:
<URL:http://www.deep-purple.com/rosas/lyrics/>

The lyrics are also available at the University of Munich in Germany at the
LEO Music Archive:
<URL:http://www.leo.org/a rchiv/music/music_e.html>

To make things simpler, here's the link
directly to the Deep Purple lyrics:
<URL:http://www.leo.org/cgi-bin/leo-dls/pub/rec/musi c/vocal/lyrics/uwp/d/deep.purple/00-index.html>

If you don't have WWW access, this site also has an
FTP-archive:
<URL:ft p://ftp.leo.org/pub/rec/music/vocal/lyrics/uwp/d/deep.purple/>

At this archive, lyrics for most of the Deep Purple albums are located. Most seem to be from the original official lyric sheets, where these were available, allthough I haven't chequed properly. Some are however transcriptions, and thus understandably include a fair amount of errors. (All the Mark I albums are transcriptions.) The lyrics at the WWW pages are more updated and corrected.

There are also some Rainbow files at this site; lyrics for the three albums with Joe Lynn Turner on the vocals, + 16th Century Greensleeves (probably off the Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow LP cover) and a partial transcription of All Night Long .

All these files are mirrored from the ftp archive at ftp.uwp.edu ; this archive is virtually impossible to access now, because there's too heavy traffic.

Chord and tablature:

Guitarists will also be familiar with the lyrics & chords archives at Nevada. However, the archives at nevada.edu are under a lot of pressure now, and you're urged to use one of the mirror archives.

Of course, you'll find the lot and then some at the

Deep Purple WWW pages:
<URL:http://www.deep-purple.com/lyrics/>

Another source for WWW access to the guitar files, albeit a LOT slower than the Deep Purple pages (at least from my site) is
LEO Music Archive in Munich, Germany:
<URL:http://www.leo.org/cgi-bin/leo-dls/pub/rec/m usic/guitar/songs/nevada/d/deep.purple/00-index.html/>

The LEO Music Archive is also available through
FTP:
<URL:ftp:/ /ftp.leo.org/pub/rec/music/guitar/nevada/d/deep.purple/>

Digitized songs

There are some copyright issues about sampling Deep Purple music. We are in discussions with the management about this subject. Watch this space! - Dave

The Deep Purple FAQ

Well, you're obviously reading it right now, but it's stored several places, too.

The primarily version of the FAQ is the HTML-version at the

Deep Purple WWW-pages:
<URL:http://www.deep-purple.com/rosas/faq/faq.htm>

Besides, the text version of the FAQ is archived at the
FTP FAQ archives:
<URL:ftp://rtfm.mit.edu/>

There are several mirrors of this archive around the world.

Buying the music online

There's also several online music stores out there. All of the stores mentioned below are US based, and you'll usually need a VISA or Mastercard to shop from them.

CD Connection
The first of them, I believe, has 100.000 titles in store. Decent Deep Purple collection, including some imports.
WWW: <URL:http://ftp.cdconnection.com/>
Telnet: <URL:telnet://cdconnection.com>

CD Europe
Specializes on imports, as their name suggests. Good source for buying all those nifty European Deep Purple releases that you Americans never find in your stores! :-) (Some claim this firm is a bit dodgy.)
Telnet: <URL:telnet://cdeurope.com>

CDnow! The Internet Music Store
Good Deep Purple selection, even has some bootlegs. Has the best WWW-service.
WWW: <URL:http://cdnow.com/>

email: manager@cdnow.com

Video Online Express
A late addition to the list, it seems to be the video branch of CD Connection. VHS and laserdisc. Has a few Purple + related titles.
