[ d e e p P u r . p l e ) The Highway Star

Toronto Show

Good show. Loud and powerful. They ran through their posted set with the usual bantering from Gillan in between. The song selection was good. Lots of old with just enough new stuff to keep your interest. The mix got a little wobbly at times but overall the sound was okay.

The whole band was having a great time, lots of smiles and interplay. The only drawback I can make is with Steve Morse. He seems to be dominating the band musically. He’s a great guitarist but he seems to be all over everything. The Blackmore departure was, unfortunately necessary, if the band was to continue. But Blackmore’s playing was more to the background. Morse seems to be on top of everyone else’s. Anyway...carry on, we’ll see you all next time.
