05.07.98 Sommerarena, Vienna - Austria

I came from Greece just to see the gig. Wet enough because of the rain but worth the wait!! The band played better than any previous gigs with Steve Morse in. I think he is the leading figure on stage, relaxed, confident - a full member. Ian Gillan's voice in very good "shape". Jon Lord simply mature. Ian Paice as usual. Roger Glover the heart and mind now of the band. The show was excellent. The audience too. The set list: 7 songs from Abandon and only 11 from a 30year history of the band!! Why?
Flying back to Greece, gathering my thoughts and looking to the photos of the show and some with the band backstage after the show - Thanks to Stathis Panagiotopoulos and Colin Hart - I am proud enough to be a follower of Deep Purple for 25 years.
