A good time - too few new songs

I took my 11 year old son to his first concert ever. We both loved it! Haven't seen Purple since 1985 in Los Angeles area. As professional a band as there is.

Took me awhile to get used to Ian Gillan's short hair and Hawaiian style shirt, but his pipes were as good as ever - hitting all the notes. I was disappointed that they did not play more tunes from the last two studio CDs which I thought were some of the best and most inspired material in years. But I also understand that most people attending at least the shows in the states are not familiar with the newer stuff - so it did not really surprise me that they played mostly old hits. "Ted The Mechanic" was the only new one on the list for this show.

The main thing is they really seem to be having a good time out there - and it rubs off on the audience. Hope to see them again in the near future. Hope they keep recording and touring!
