Deep Purple with Luciano Pavarotti

We have received this report on Deep Purple's guest appearance at Luciano Pavarotti's charity show in Modena, Italy on May 29. Rasmus.

-Deep Purple not only took part in the festival, but they were even the headliners!!!!!

-Some other artists also there: Tom Jones, George Benson, Anastacia, Jarabe de Palo, Celia Cruz, Moorcheba.

-In all the newspapers Deep Purple's performance was the best performance.

-Ian Gillan sang "Nessun Dorma" in a duet with Pavarotti. Ian wore a white dress. Later, during "Smoke on The Water", he wore a shirt and red leather pants (last time he used these would have been in 1985).

-Jon Lord told an Italian newspaper that: "Pavarotti asked us to play "Child In Time" but we refused because that song is part of our past. So he asked us to play "Nessun Dorma"."

-Deep Purple were introduced as "the band that is the history of rock music".

-At the end Ian Gillan sang "With A Little Help From My Friends" together with all the other artists.

-The festival will donate more than 3 billion Lire to the Afghan children (but as it is possible to keep donating until June 7 it will be more).

-Some stars made testimonials during the concert: Michael Douglas, Catherina Zeta Jones, Alessandro Del Piero, Gianluigi Buffon.

-The crowd was more than 20.000 people.
