Copenhagen: Just awesome

Once again Deep Purple in Copenhagen, and what a gig, just awesome in a full KB Hallen with approx. 35 degrees Celcius. It was hot like a sauna.

The sound was good and all members were excellent, but I have to say, Steve Mores was outstanding, he was playing as if he came from another planet.

For myself I will hope the next four months will go fast for my next Purple concert will be in Aarhus on November 21.

Setlist 13 July, Copenhagen:

Highway Star
Things I never said
Wrong man
Strange kind of woman
Rapture of the Deep
Fireball
Contact Lost (Steve’s solo)
Sometimes I feel like scraming
Well dressed Guitar
Wring that neck
The battle rages on
Don Airey’s solo
Perfect Strangers
Smoke on the water

Hush
Black Night

1 hour 45m.

I loved the show yesterday in Copenhagen!
Really great, but I must say, all the other 12 shows I have seen from Deep Purple, were way better somehow.
But still, the setlist was great, the songs were played really great… and I scored a signed drumhead as well!
Can’t wait to see them again!

I´ve made a pledge some 10 years ago: every time DP play in Copenhagen I´ll be there! The reasons are as follows:legacy, loyalty & tradition! They have not dissapointed me yet!

I know I´ve complained about the crowd in Copenhagen on many occassions before (useally to drunk or musically retarded), but this time for some reason they were top notch (respect)!!

I´ve said it before and I´ll say it again: Ian Paice never ceases to amaze me, he´s truly the glue in this band and have a feeling and presence, like no other drummer I´ve had the fortune to see on stage over the years….and they are many!

The show was as usual top notch but now I want a NEW album sometime soon….It´s long overdue! I see no reson to tour the same show and album to death forever unless they suffer from some collective writers block!

If they would come back next year I´ll be there again, that is as certain as Wacko Jacko is no more( by the way did you notice the intro to “Smoke…” Yes, that´s right….”Beat it”)!! ROCK ON!

I´ve been to every show in Copenhagen since 1969 and this one was one of the good shows. Not the best but ABSOLUTELY not the worst.
Gillans voice is not as good anymore in the old songs but in the new songs it is awsome…
And Glover is getting better and better.. And “the boy” Steve Morse… What can I say? We almost didn´t miss Blackmore…. Paicey. What a drummer.. Don Airey. We almost didn´t miss Lord…

Forgot to mention the opening act, my god they were crap! They couldn´t make up their minds to be Bon Jovi or Saga or something else, confusing to say the least! Their name?? Let´s see…Ohh that´s right: Heywire!

I don´t see the point for a band of DP´s stature, to have a totally waste of time opening act! We are all there for DP and these local crappy acts just pisses me off, so please guys the next time you visit us….never mind the opening act!Rock On!

Hey, watch it, SAGA are an act worth copying.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmhhhhhhhhh, want SAGA not that band with the singer with Freddy Mercury moustache?

    stefan says:

Michael Sadler that is, yeah spot on Priest!

I rather liked Saga in the late `70s & early `80s, their live album “In Transit” is partly recorded at KB Hallen and is great!

An opening act with no identity of their own, is however a totally waste of time and just adds to the frustration!

Unless they could get Blackmore, his muse & merry men to open the show……Don´t bother! ROCK ON!

No idea who you’re on about, but SAGA does appear to have a new singer and I’m not sure I’m intersted because their original singer was fine by me. Btw, I can’t stand Freddy myself, but he seems to still be quite revered, I’ll take David Johanson over that any day, he may wear wonen’s accesories but he’s a man through and through, or so his wife says.lol!

Back to topic, or sort of… all I know about Copenhagen is that it’s on my bucket list.
