What’s wrong with Ritchie? It’s a little odd tot me that a show in october has been cancelled because of illness. Is there some serious going on?

    Wally Roundhead says:

Too bad. I hope that it’s nothing serious. One bandmember is apparently reported ill. This is confirmed with Live Nation. There are no planned extra shows at this point.

    Svante Axbacke says:

@1: That was in 2007. Look at the post date…

    Rajaseudun Rampe says:

It was obvious. After playing alive in open air venues in freezing cold Finland, who wouldn’t catch cold? Hope they’ll survive, old gaffers as they are. Welcome back anyway, if you please!

This will give Ian Gillan a chance to join Ritchie up on stage for this week’s Rainbow concerts in Germany. I also have some ocean-front property in Arizona to sell you.

    Marcus says:

Not the first time it has happened.

I was one of those that went down to Hammersmith for the show that was called off due to big Ian’s sore throat.

At least we got a double dose of keyboards at the rearranged show.

    Hope they get well soon

    @4 Unfortunately I fear it’s something a little more serious than a cold. 🙁
Purple wouldn’t call a show off because of a bout of the sniffles. Look how many shows they’ve ever previously cancelled to see how tough they are.

    Fabio Nogueira says:

Ritchie Blackmore is suffering from arthritis. This is not guess but a statement he made when announcing the Rainbow shows

    Adel says:

You can replace the other big four but big Ian can’t not be replaced. So I guess it defiantly Big Ian catching a cold and can’t sing. It happens to anyone and everyone unless Big Ian indulged with someone with a cold during Stevi extended solos. Ginger and lemon honey!!!

    Tom says:

    Get well soon guys!

    Horsen is also cancelled 🙁
Hope whoever is sick will make a speedy recovery and we see the band back in DK soon

We were told that it was Ian Paice that went ill. We had been awaiting this show for almost a year and our anticipations quickly turned into feelings of worry, hope Paicey (or whoever it may be for that matter) returns to health soon!

Now we know, message from Ian Paice, I hope he has a succesful and speedy recovery: To all the people who were expecting to see Deep Purple in Sweden and Denmark this week I would like to let you know the reason the shows were not possible, and also to stop all the speculation and rumours.

On the morning of the 14th of June I woke up to find that the right side of my body was feeling numb and I could not control my right hand and fingers.

So I had myself admitted to hospital where I was diagnosed with having suffered a “mini stroke”, or TIA. The hospital staff in Stockholm were amazing and started my treatment straight away.

After both CT and MIR scans there was found to be no serious or permanent damage. As of this moment all I am suffering is a slightly numb right side of the face a tingling sensation in my right hand. My dexterity in the hand is coming back quickly and I fully expect to re commence touring next month.

So now I have a set of tablets which have to be taken every day to ensure it doesn’t happen again!.

So sorry for not being able to play for you.

    And I’m sorry for myself!

These are the first shows I have missed with DP since its formation in 1968.

Thanks to all the people who have shown concern and sent their best wishes.

    -Ian Paice.

James, I’ll trade you that ocean property in AZ for a small bridge with a harbour view in Sydney…

New date for Gothenburg show: Friday 2016-07-01. Nice that they could find a new date with such short notice in my hometown. Looking forward to that !

Looking so much forward to hear you one more time before retirement 🙂
