Sunflower Jam 2012

The 2012 edition of the Sunflower Jam will be held at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Sunday, September 16. Apparently Jon Lord’s treatment is proceeding well enough that he is billed to appear there. (And with the whole thing being organized by his sister-in-law, this must come from pretty close to home, so the news are really encouraging).

Other people confirmed so far include Ian Paice, Bruce Dickinson, violinist Nigel Kennedy, and opera singer Alfie Boe. Tickets priced £30 – £130 (plus booking fee) will go on sale through Eventim and the RAH box office soon.

Thanks to Planet Mosh for the info.

Glad to see here that there is some positive news regarding the great Maestro. Now, while there is a glimmer of hope for some future music from Mr. Lord, how about taking that gift and grabbing Blackmore by the ‘hair-piece’ and pulling him loose from Candice’s grip of his ‘cod-piece’ for a collaboration on some ROCK, BLUES or BOTH. Come on Jon and Ritchie, IT’s TIME!!

    Cheers

Yes we are hoping for Jon Lord’s recovery & all hope he is well. With regards to a possible album with The Man In Black, one thing we need to happen, or not to happen, is Candice Night’s non involvement in any way possible to the album! No vocal or additional vocals, no attempt at songwriting in any way, & no anything else! Man, she bores me to tears, & please don’t anyone mention her supposed looks etc! Vanity is shallow indeed!

Great news about Jon!! He is beating the demon inside him and the battle rages on!! [Sorry. couldnt resist that] ! LOL!!! I like Tracy’s idea: Let em rock!!! Life is too short. I wanna hear Lord & Blackmore loud!

Fantastic positive news regarding Jon’s health and his future musical activities. Praise the Lord! I would love to see Jon & Ritchie playing together again. Richtie has always said in interviews that he would consider to do a ‘one off’ reunion show for good times sake when the time and circumstances are right. I think that this is not only A right time, but I honestly think that this is THE right moment for such a reunion! On top of that comes the fact that this a charity show, and that should be the main driving force.
And what other venue than the Royal Albert Hall would be more perfectly fitting such an event? I hope that everyone concerned and involved (artists, managers, etc.) should realise that this is a not to be missed opportunity. Fingers crossed and hope that someone out there will be able to persuade the right people in order to get this together!

Doubt it would happen, but getting Blackers on stage for a one time jam session….and play some instrumental pieces like Wring That Neck…Son of Alerik….

It would be doable and very cool and would raise a ton of money!

    Just saying…
