    Nice to see the DP family getting some recognition.

    I recently watched Phoenix Rising, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more contrite musician than Glenn as he describes himself as “someone who stayed at the bar too long.” I think he really would like a do-over with the MK IIIers so he can do it right. Do it right for his bandmates, do it right for DP III fans, and do it right for the DP legacy. It would be nice to see that happen, even as a one off. But, there’s great doubt that that could ever happen. DP is still a touring band, so IP would be unavailable. Then the lawyers and managers and other legal wranglers would be involved. Sometimes I find it puzzling that it would take an act of parliment for 5 guys to have a jam. Sometimes I feel like screaming…

    I spread the wealth….(man after that socialist Holy Chair’s heart). I voted ‘Whitesnake- Forevermore’ in the Album of the year spot and BCC in the Band of the Year. Believe it or not, I haven’t gotten BCC2 yet. Been playing the hell out of the first one though, along with Forevermore. Either way, can’t go wrong.

    Cheers

    BCC 2 is miles above the first one, but it doesn’t come off that way until you comepletely absorb it several times. I hate to think of anyone listening just a few times without paying good attention… as these would be the ones losing if they end it there. It ckicks, you just have to let it… and once it does, look out, it comes on strong! One of the best albums I’ve heard in years, which is better than I ever said about the first one.(it’s really just okay on a whole compared to this)

    As for Classic Rock… @1 – if that’s what you call recognition…. I call it a joke, consider the source.(nice enough as it may seem)

    BCC 2 is the best album of the decade. It’s nearly flawless and every song is either very good or outstanding. “Cold” is Mistreated on steroids.

    I have to pretty much agree… I don’t usually plug my work here but it’s really one of the best places in this case.(sorry Roberto)

    Nice interview Larry.

    Solid questions resulting in some good insight into the band. Your BCC2 review really has my mouth watering. Believe it or not, I still haven’t gotten it yet. Heading out tomorrow to get it for sure.

    For us classic rock fans, BCC2, Whitesnake “Forevermore”, although it’s not Purple related the new “Nightranger” album is a killer.

    Larry R. Toering says:

    @Tracy, expect to give it perhaps more than a few listens to take it all in, as it’s a complex beast at first, but it all comes out in the wash very well. I wasn’t blown away right at first, and that’s deceiving because I don’t see it wearing off now, for who knows how long to come. It’s a well crafted piece of work with all the spririt required for such a thing of wonder.

    @Peter Chrisp
    On the linked website in the new August issue, I also reviewed the new Night Ranger and I have to say it’s killer too, and I highly recommend it as a fathful effort to capture their existing magic just as well as they did in their early days. Amazing how well they lock into their own formula without mocking anything about it. There are also a pile of other Purple and family related, new and some retro releases reviewed too, inluding Purpendicular, Gillan Toolbox, Jon Lord Pictured Within, the new Roger Glover and several more.

    Tracy Heyder (Zero the Hero) says:

    #17,

    Actually Larry, how you describe BCC2 is exactly how I was effected by the first album. It took me a while to digest it’s feel and format. It also has various approaches and variety which makes one have to put a good amount of time in, taking it all in, and the BAMM…. you get it. Same thing happened to me with Purpendiclar. Such depth and interweeving of creativity with complex structure causes the delay in absorbtion. That’s the difference between simple tunes with hooks for the purpose of becoming radio friendly hits and true works of art that that are created with passion. Looking forward to dicsecting BCC2. I still haven’t gotten it yet…..”What’s going on here?”

    Cheers
