    Ted The Mechanic says:

Deep Purple may be on the road right now but they’re also hard at work on a new album. Guitarist Steve Morse told us about how band’s first record since 2005’s Rapture of the Deep is coming along.
“Just a matter of weeks ago, we did all the pre-production and got all the material ready and it sounded really good. It’s sort of like a return to the roots is the way I would classify it. Both Ians were voting against something that was too clever, there was a big emphasis on roots type music.”
Deep Purple’s new album is due out next year but before then, they’ll perform here in America with a full orchestra, starting on June 3rd. Get all their dates at DeepPurple.com.

“Both Ians were voting against something that was too clever”
mmmmmmmmmm….I was looking for a clever album like Purpendicular was…the world is full of “non-clever music”…(and ‘clever’ is not self-indulgment but simply not predictable…)

    purplepriest1965 says:

So Steve and Don think think they can make “clever music”.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, maybe they think Ritchie did make compositions without class and refinement?

    Larry R. Toering says:

No use trying to convince a door knob of anything… read what you want into that, you will probably be wrong.

  8. 8
    The Purple Chair says:

And Good Old Rog was for the “clever approach” as well?

What is “clever music” after all?

Things like “Herky Jerky” drums and all that?

    Stop the Press!

John Wetton – played bass for my second favourite band of all time & they don’t even get a mention???????

    Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat’s the world coming to?

Any track from the ‘Bandstand’ LP has outstanding Bass playing – see how few notes John plays on the track ‘Burlesque’ & you’ll hear genious – ‘FAMILY’ were a better band for his contribution!

Steve Morse is in very good company!!!

    Ted The Mechanic says:

@6, Steve and Don know they can make every type of music. And what would make you even give any kind of thought that they think Ritchie made compositions without class and refinement?!

I stopped trying to figure you out a loooooong time ago….

“The banjo player took a hike”, and what’s that composition I used to like?

    Peace,

    Ted

    The Holy Chair says:

Both Ians were voting against something ……
(so the others didnt) : )

    Something?
    Something what?
A view held by the other members.
    Other members in the band!!!

Its not difficult to understand that “the others” are Glover, Airey and Morse.

    Simple deduction, Ted.

  12. 12
    Ted The Mechanic says:

@11, And because of the musical genius of In A League Of His Own Steve, the broad musical horizon listener Roger, and the classically trained Don perhaps wanting to keep intense broad musical horizon ideas in the mix, it is going to keep the band from staying roots? The diplomacy in this band minus the banjo hiker is what keeps this great band together….

And all of you know it…. Leave all denial behind. It’s a healthier choice/way.

Such great fun. Tis gonna be a great album. It’s pure chemistry. Five great musicians can’t go wrong even if they were to decide to put a Purple disco record on out…. :>

    Grab a clue, y’all!

    Peace,

    Ted

League of yer own, Sir Steve! My bad. Galaxy of yer own….!

  13. 13
    The Holy Chair says:

    @ 12

Appearantly they let you listen to the new album?

Tell us some more, please. : )

  14. 14
    Ted The Mechanic says:

    @13, Hopeful thinking!!!! :>

    Peace,

    Ted
