Whilst a comparison on the basis of musicianship between Messers Blackmore & Morse is fraught with danger & truly Subjective - a comparison of their willingness to engage fellow humans in conversation leaves the former truly lacking.

I must admit that Mr Blackmore seemed very willing to shake my hand (More than once!) back in 1977, but there was no conversation to be had as he had to finish putting another cheap Strat copy out of it's misery by seperating it's neck from the PA Stack.

I've never shaken Mr Morse's hand (Or any other part of his person), but I'd guess a decent conversation would ensue if encountered.

I did see Jon Lord's embarrasment as audience members said farewell to him at Plymouth UK by shouting phrases best suited for some Deity & his relief when I shook his hand with a warm "Respect" - What a Gentleman! What a Musician!

Now, a good bottle of wine, a Piano, a portable recorder & Jon Lord - That would be time well spent!!!

I just say that he has no real important say in the band, never has been a writer from which DP derived all time classics like Ritchie did, does not make the important decisions concerning recording albums when and how, why and how much they are touring, etc

I like to speak to well mannered and nice persons too.

I m NOT interested in planes and flying, nor do I feel enhusiasm for soccer.

I sometimes feel triggered to read more when DP related people show a interest and opion on social, psychological, historical and espescially MUSICALLY RELATED things.

How OFF TOPIC can you get with planes and flying?

Are we now going to interview Bruce Dickinson too?

I d rather ask RJ Dio and JLT about literature.

Or ask the several DP people about their HIGHWAY STAR experiences in personal
I thought it was kinda ironic to read that people like David Coverdale and RB very late got into their drivers license.

Have you read that one from Stuart Smith how Rtchie tried to stop his car while getting lessons from Stuart?

Very funny....
Ritchie stepped his foot out of the car as if he was still on his bike.

Well, back into my bunker

Sleep well, I have to yawn now.

Please, Priest ... What kind of comment is that? Just because you don't think he has anything to say musically you think he is a boring person to talk to?

I would say the contrary to what you say; either your pro or anti Morse - if you talk to him, I think everyone agrees that he is a well mannered and nice person to talk to. For example, if you happen to be interested in planes and flying, he has a ton of stories to share. He also is one of those in the band who always take time out and speak to fans and sign stuff.

I do follow you for the most of your post Thorsun but.....

Why would anyone have the desire to talk to Steve?
I think its obvious to both parties, pro and anti Morse era people, that he has not a lot to say.......

I can talk to people with a truly friendly attitude everywhere.....
Great personality?
Can you be a bit more precise?

Jon is a True Wizard, could be the last of such a charming personas in the world of rock. I had a chance to meet him once and I was utterly overwhelmed every second of it. You just feel you want to be around him, a magnetic positive aura is around - you feel he's special. Smiling, genuine, witty, friendly and every inch a gentleman; you don't get that much of a rennaisance man feeling often these days while meeting musicans. And rennaisance man he is! I did get to see him doing a show last year, did not make this one, but I hope to get to another concert in 2010! Best wishes to Jon!

PS. If you're looking for a truly friendly attitude among the Purple lads to meet and to talk - then also Steve is a right man. I may have my issues regarding his playing style, but apart from that he's a great personality too. And that's what made first years of Mk VII a good time to follow: Jon and Steve were amazing together.

Is there a link to some Tubes yet?
Want to see and hear it.

Some Scottish Reels? I thought reels were tapes or something....
In my disctionairy it says there is also something like a Scottish reel which means a DANCER???!!!!

If the guitarists were of the SM school I m afraid it was more like 1999 and 2000 all over again, something I witnessed 3 times btw.

Glad you enjoyed yourself so much.

Nothing better than getting a great boost out of live music.
Well maybe apart from GOOD sex that is.....
Doubting now. Probably shows my age.....
Darn.

Was at the Concerto last night. First half of night was with Phil Cunningham and the Orchestra with some scottish reels etc. Great stuff.
Second half enter Jon Lord, Paul Mann and the band. (From my vantage point I could just see the sax player!) Amazing version of the Concerto, the rock band were something to hear and a drum solo that wasn't boring. The guitarists were of the Steve Morse school which was pretty cool and they brought their own take to the solos!
So what could you possibly follow that up with - ah yes Child In Time.
It felt like 1969 (ok I wasn't even born then but you get the idea!) all over again. I never thought I would ever hear it performed that well again, the singer was note perfect.
None of the musicians could have been over 20 (ok the drummer is 24)and the talent was dripping off every single one of them.
An experience I won't forget for a long time...
