What a great video to see. Ritchie is in a good mood, very polite and gentlmenly, and handles the ball quite well. Also nice to see Mr. Roger Glover having a blast being his usual charming self. I did have the pleasure of meeting, All members but Don Airey. Very polite and nice guys. Dp is one of the rare bands who have something itellectual to say without excessive swearing or antics (One Mr. Coverdale), very rare to find these, and a great group of Guys. Great Post and enjoy the music.

That same year I played foosball with him back stage at a gig the first time I met him, he was kind of distracted and got whooped, but was a gentleman nonetheless. It was the next time I met his that he wasn't so nice and said he owes me one for beating him, recognized me on the spot.

The only good thing in my opinion regarding TBRO is the vocal tracks.. Excellent vocals...

p.s. Back in the Perfect Strangers period, I played soccer with Blackmore (I live in CT as did he)..What a sore loser/winner... When his team were losing, Ritchie stopped the game and took the good players from our team and gave us some of his teamates just so he could win...Typical brat!!

Read more of my posts, plenty of criticism in plenty of them.(sometimes often ironically critical)

It doesn't matter if you direct it at me or anyone in particular, it's like a tape loop for everyone to see, so it seems you're doing it for everyone's sake who likes things you don't happen to.

It's easy to see that you just like to keep winding the few issues you have and get some sort of kick out of prolonging it through whoever nibbles at it. Or I'm sure you'd find something else to do, you get off on it... but as you say, it's your right, just as it is mine and others to reply to it with counter vibes.

Remember this one thing Roberto, it wouldn't be so bad if you didn't do it constantly and made an effort to creatively express yourself differently from time to time, but it's the same old yada.(trolls behave this way, and we know you're not a bad guy, you're just frustrated over impossible to change factors)

Have some fruit my friend, and cheer up.

"you don’t variate it enough..."
I just replayed to this...
p.s.
I am free, as you are, to make negative or positive comments...but it sound really strange if you never criticize...probably you are considering yourself 'deaf and blind fan'...because I never told directly to you...

DVD and surround audio mixes are great though, the levels are not regulated.

I love DTS 5.1 encoded CD's, for surround systems too, hi fi is nice and warm sounding.

Crimson # 20 : I agree with you about mixing and mastering problem. That's these days musics lack of quality and power. But to be sorry, I'm one of the part of this age (I'm 25 now). I realized it when I compare the original recordings of classic rock acts like Deep Purple, Cream, The Who, and Grand Funk Railroad to the new generation acts like Green Day, Oasis, My Chemical Romance, and The Strokes. And the classic rock had the best sound at all! Really, talking about recording and sound, rock is died nowadays...

Ian Gillan once ever said that he hate In Rock and some early stuff remastered. He said that they are very horrible, and he preferred to listen to the original vinyl records. I actually didn't know why, but after hearing the original and the remastered stuffs, I admit Ian Gillan had the truth. Relatively same things also ever expressed by Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, and Yes.

#21 Roberto
I accept and appreciate your reasons about TBRO. They're make sense, even honestly I do not agree that much. Hope they playing Anya again....

#25 Big Al
Agree with you that 1993 tour was a killer one. Even the very fu**in' bad bootleg of the shows that I watched (I think from Munich, Norwegia, and Helsinki) clearly showed how Ian Gillan worst years was in the 80's (and maybe 2008, some might said). His vocal was so powerful, and the band really jammed together, Blackmore was on fire. Even Strange Kind of Woman and Speed King performances told us that virtually there were no problems at all between Ritchie Blackmore and Ian Gillan, with Jon Lord.

Cheers!

I can't think of one post Machine Head Purple album that isn't at least as good or better than Machine Head. But I can think of two that preceded it that are light years better. No way MH is on the level of chops and intensity displayed on InRock and Fireball for me, now way on earth. It's just their blusiest sounding album throughout, and has a consistency about it = their most commercial album.

@21

Roberto, I never once said you were a "deaf and blind fan" I said you make others out to be, just because they fancy something you don't, and that's ingorant childs play.

Your insight there is only needed if you can convey it with maturity. Then we might have something concerning your constant all the same remarks, and language has nothing to do with it when you keep driving the same damn point all the time.

There are only so many ways you can put it, and only so many ways to respond to it, which is not many on either count, because you don't variate it enough.

Onward and upward, as they say...

TBRO is a masterpiece due the songwriting which is without any doubt the most important part of making of an album...
"ramschakle man" has a wonderful groove, so funky bluesy footstompin' music (could have been a perfect song for red hot chili peppers)with wonderful lyrics
"time to kill" could have been a huge succes;the new since you been gone with lyrics taken from the 'qoelet'
"solitaire" and are "nasty piece of work" that kind of songs (like "loosen my strings" and "soon forgotten" or "sun goes down") which are out of the schemes and you can create them only if you are an artist inspired.(they are so particulary strange, mystical and beautiful)...
Than I think I don't need to say something about the title track and anya which are clearly classics...

These are the reasons why I think TBRO is as good as machine head and the most underrated Deep purple album ever...

Crimson:
As said before:I don't want to be a deaf and blind fan, this is the reason why of my negatives comments...I only try to be honest sosometimes I even write positives ones ...

I write "sentences" as someone said for two reasons:

1.to be concise and clear is a great quality
2.english is not my mother tangue
3.I don't have so much time

I have the UK edition, the Japanese edition, the Dutch vinyl edition, and the US edition. I don't even hear a difference in the analog vinyl, and that speaks hugely about it. The Jap sounds the clearest, but still very thin.

But one thing I never followed up on 'Ormandy' is the late Japanese version that is supposedly 'remastered' although I don't know where they would have gotten the original master tape from in order to do so, but then again they're brilliant at manufacturing recordings, so they may have faked it very well into sounding a whole lot better.
It's really not a mixing, but a mastering problem. I'm never going to be interested in hearing it remixed.

Ever pick up that Jap remaster? I saw it in an Amazon link once, so I know it was released some time ago.

As far as it being underrated goes, I really only find that to be relevant concerning the fan base, they're always underrated outside of us, so we're really all that matters. And if it's underrated by the fan base, then there is obviously a problem with it of some kind, for me it's the mastering levels, typical of most CD's in this day and age, and no fault of the band at all, it's industry standards that control this sad problem, as you probably know, but others may not.

Oh, I forgot about why TBRO is underrated. That's easy, by 1993 Deep Purple were considered classic rock and there's of course no way they could do anything good in 1993 (Grunge is king baby!!!). But I think slowly but surely the album is gaining respect. Even Glover recently said something positive.

I don't know Roberto's reasons for thinking TBRO is a masterpiece and so underrated, but I have my own reasons. Ever since I got myself a UK (RCA) copy of TBRO, it's opened my eyes (and ears) to what a strong album it is. It's not just a good album, but a great one. The backing tracks that Gillan had to work were perfect, stunning, killer and then Ian G. delivered BIG TIME with edgy lyrics, great rock singing and multi layered backing vocals that blended perfectly. Blackmotre was a fool to leave the band at this point; but we are all thankful now.

I didn't say anything "about you" Roberto, and never do, I address the things you "say" and there is a huge difference, you know... You obviously have good taste, just sadly narrower than myself, according to your repetitive expression, it's tunnel vision. Nothing wrong with that, but don't expect positive feedback to negative cut and paste remarks, that's all, it's nothing personal, a fine line tells me so.

Haha..Roberto, could you explain why TBRO is a mastepiece for you ? You looked so sure and vindicated very much about this one.
I will appreciate and looking to your reasons, but for me this album was just great, above House of Blue Light, WDWTTA, Abandon, and MK1's albums.

Candice was the one who made (and keep) Ritchie smile and happy in this video (and in 1993 as well)... as this period was a real turbulence for him and the band.
So Mr. Black really need her yellow blonde beside his shoulders really from time to time...

But I prefer Candice as the referee, so Blackmore would smile and happy there even if he got tackled or got bickering, hahaha...

All that hasn't been seen by most traders is the game footage... we now about the pro-shot piece as it's been uploaded at youtube, and I have the bootlegged show as well, but I'm thinking the second disc isn't widely circulated because self respecting traders do not pass around copyrighted materials very much to speak of, concerning the audio tracks over the game.

I'm interested in the second disc and have the mother load for trade bait.

What 'habits' the drinking one he mentions?lol!

I think you need to look up the meaning of "masterpiece" I'm quite sure you won't find 'TBRO' listed. tee hee!

There is also a news clip, I don't know if it's on the DVD, but Rob, who is in the footage tells me he has the whole game backed with DP tracks.
It's always nice to see stuff for the first time, and I doubt this in it's entirety will make it up anywhere else on the net because of the copyrighted audio.
