#37 I'd take JLT over someone like M. Jagger with big lipps--green teeth the size of tic-tacs on steroids--and a voice that sounds like he is singing out of a mega phone. Court dismissed.

AAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!

I just looked at that picture again. Can the 'Editors' Please remove this transvestite picture from this site? It gives the word Rainbow a bad name.......I think they should change the name to 'Rainbow Coalition'.

Now I must go and wash away the memory of this pouty poser with some strong concoction of whiskey I have yet to try.........in large quantities.....

Cheers

The only thing more sickening than the interview is his posed picture that you have posted here to look at first.

JLT should audition for the movie 'Zoolander 2'. Instead of calling his pose, "Blue Steel" as Ben Stiller's character did....JLT could call his look "Pink Powder Puff", to go along with his "Black and Blue" ass cheeks from all those Ass Slaps....

Boa,
I could barely bear to read through one interview. Apart from the odd mildly amusing anecdote it's all "I'm so huge", "I'm so tremendously important" - his
repetitive phrase "let me tell you one thing" is particularly suitable after all, because in the end, it's really just that one thing he says.

He is undoubtedly a talented singer. But he tends to overdoing things so much that they come dangerously close to cliches - and this is what separates him from the true great artists that show much more modesty in their art and their behaviour.
Which he doesn't seem to gather at all. Effect: He tries harder proving his talent, his importance and keeps shoving it up other peoples noses, desperately seeking respect that is denied him just for this desperation, which makes him all the more obnoxious.

Having said that, I might just as well go and see the show. Its been a long time since I squeezed myself into my spandex jeans and sported some big hair.
Could be a good laugh, and guessing from the proportions into which my body and hair tend to be growing these days (certainly into the wrong directions) it might also be last chance to do so.

He does deserve a break, but breaks aren't even given to those who earn them, it's simply not cost effective in the minds of the industry... too bad, so sad!

@24

Well, you have a funny way of expressing that... the problem is an industry and media standard, the reason they put so many songs on them now is because the format has the space and the labels and media groups demand that the standard is maintained. Not really a good thing, but try getting any kind of air play or even the slightest attention with all over 6 minute songs... it's just a thing of the distant past.

Live with it, or take your oldies to the grave with you, it's your choice and you're entitled to it. But you obviously can't put up with both very well at all, or so it appears.

@Roberto

You can't have a singing career and take years between writing and recording, etc... you will be forgotten before your next gig.
So this thing about 'quality' versus 'quantity' really is absolutely irrelevant.

If it turns out you produce more of one than the other in 30 years of non stop profession, then you win some and lose some. But to think it's controllable or projectable at any time is ridiculous. They don't hand out recording and touring contracts to people who're waiting for their ideas to pop up.(Joe talked about it, you have to take offers or you possibly won't get any work, they will tell you to find another deal, and so on...)

I can see it being summed up in the outcome of someone's career, but to use it all the time is not credible.

Take BN, or Blackmore himself since 1997 for instance... if you call that quality over quantity then so be it.

One very important thing to remember about a voice, is that the only thing that keeps it conditioned after it's perfected, is to keep using it, and that's a fact... you will lose it if you don't keep it well lubricated. This has nothing to do with abusing your vocal chords, that's done by your other habits, less sleep, too much drinking and smoking... things like that. But using your voice a lot is mandatory for conditioning and lasting.

You are an artist I believe, so your frustrations are passionately evident, but singing takes as much energy as drumming, so you should know the similarities... it's a survival thing, if you don't have the energy and enthusiasm in the first place, you fall behind, regardless of quality factors, so quantity is inevitable in order to survive and stay in the minds you're entertaining.(when you have a career)

They just do what they please and hope it pleases others, there is no rehearsing the outcome, it either succeeds or it doesn't. Like a force of nature, you can't make people like you, although you can try, it's still up to them.
Quantity versus quality is not a culprit here.

@James Jay

JOE LYNN TURNER:
very good singer, so and so composer...
but on a list of 20-30 albums or more you can find some very good songs...(yes He prefer quantity to quality...)
but yo have to listen for example to these songs to believe it:
love and life
blood red sky
henriette
anything
lost highways
power of love

and so on...

I have done a 'best of' after listening to all his albums and collaborations....

love and life
blood red sky
henriette
anything
lost highways
power of love

and so on…

I have done a ‘best of’ after listening to all his albums and collaborations….

Bo

It's like you didn't read th two interviews.
Much call for negative feedback...

Who is more at fault, Joe or the reader?

(almost whines like he only wants to be heard by young women, a real sympathy tripper, and a real sap)
I'm certain his aim is to hype things, he must be learning something from Gillan besides musically, lol!

Blackmore was fine to me once, but after that he showed his famous colors... hoped he wouldn't but that's him for ya. Starts out nice, then...

James Jay,

Nothing is personal, or at least that's how it should be.
Like most, Joe can be found both talented and stupid at the same time... nobody's perfect.

I wasn't hacking you for the misspelling factor, I thought it was an intentional jab, the exact kind that is done quite often concerning Ian, that's all... my mistake if you really did misspell it.

Cheers

Again, Gillan is responding to questions he's being asked.. I've met him several times and has always gone out of his way to chat a bit and sign autographs.. I can't say the same for Blackmore whom I've also met a few times.. Gillan Rules!!! Long live the Morse era!!! :)

James, don't be a fire stoker... I only said something about you and your obviously cheap shot with the 'Gillian' sentiment and you know it.
(like after reading it a zillion times and calling yourself a bigger fan of him than your are of JLT's, where is your self respect, oh yeah, you were just taking the piss, you're obviously being a prick by doing that)

The last thing I am is a spelling expert that uses such nonsense to make points, but you clearly asked for that one... no?

Get over it and move on with something more substantial or just can it.

(btw, Joe may be a decent singer, but that's not all there is to being an artist, so if the wankering in these interviews is any indication, he's pretty whacked indeed. Like many out there doing interviews today... they should refrain altogether, including both Gillan and Blackmore)

STOP STOP now all you who seems to hate everything JLT do or dont do.
He is a great singer (better than Coverdale these years. What is so wrong about his DP venture. Was Come Taste The Band version of DP so much better? NO!

I accept that all people are allowed to have their own opinion, but this is just to much.

I look forward to see it, also beacause RB himself dont want to do it and DP dont want to play a lot of great DP tunes - so this is to me a great chance to hear a lot of great rock of the past. A rare tings these days.

He looks more like a liar or just changing the story for the obviously ignorant outfits that interviewed him.

I mean come on... antimusic.com(jealous haters since 1998... that really says it all, JLT has been duped, oh dear!)

It's like he would not allow anyone to interview him unless they know less than he himself about the whole thing, lol!!!!!!!!!!!!
We knew more about it before Jurgen came into the picture, than Joe himself seems to know now... what a crock campaign so far.

I think Jurgen is turning out to be a sales point more than anything, yet he is the only thing about it that most are even interested in, so he should be more of a focus.

The whole thing is described by Joe as if it's going to be some kind of party, yet he carries on about former Rainbow members being counted out because of drugs and alcohol... funny, when he was in Rainbow, Ritchie said he was fine until he would take drugs and do push ups at the side of the stage during the guitar solos. lol!

Who is he yammering about there? The only one I can think of is Jimmy Bain. Yet Joe comes off as if he is talking about some of the guys in the same line up as him or something. Give me a break, it was nothing but a cheap shot... excusing all other options considering line ups for that unfounded reason, what a cop out... that's got to be the most ignorant thing he has ever said, as impossible as it seems.

Where are all of his attractors now?

Well, he never ceases to amaze.....

He states in both interviews that it all started when he ran into Jurgen, and he approached him first. Then they contacted the others...

BULLSHIT!!!!!

It started back when it was slated to be called Purple Rainbow, and he and Tony Carey drummed it up. If I so remember, they were looking toward either John Norum, or Craig Goldie.....

All the same bloviating BS as usual. WHAT A FRIGGIN' AIRHEAD.....

I had to down a whole bottle of Pepto after reading both interviews...

Cheers
