deep lavander....really bad luck!!
I hope you get to see them indoors sometime before they retire, but really in or outside I'll go see them anytime. I had tickets to see Tommy Bolin but that show was cancelled for obvious tragic reasons.
Cheers

Stoffer,
I've only had the opportunity to see DP live 3 times; and only succeeded once. So maybe that's why I'm prejudiced for an outdoor show. In the late 80's (HOBL Tour), they cancelled days before the show because Ritchie broke his finger while on tour. I got to see them in 2001 outdoors...Excellent show! Then in 2004 they cancelled again only days before the show..reason unknown. Both cancelled shows were for indoor venues. Seems like a jinx between DP and me. Anyway, I'm happy for my DVD collection....guess that's what I'll have to rely on.

that's very cool that you defined some of the words......I checked out the YOU TUBE clips of the song......"Blackmore's Night" should cover that one.......maybe even Ritchie could sing it....
Wouldn't that be a classic!!!

deep lavander
I too wish the tour would "wind through the States", but not gonna happen! Anyway I saw them outdoors in 2002 and indoors (small venue) last summer and I thought there was no comparison the indoor show was the best of all (only 6) DP shows I ever saw.
I'm gonna have a few beers tonite and chill...enjoy the weekend everyone!

Sorry to hear about Steve's and DP's cancellation due to the storm in Spain. Outdoor venues do have a better sound than those indoor, but are more vulnerable to the whims of the weather. Hope the rest of the tour goes more smoothly. (Wish the tour would wind through the States!)

This song is especially selected for:
'Lambton Worm FBI-er' Tracy :O and all
'the worms of the can :D

LAMBTON WORM (Folksong of Europe)

Word Definitions
Bairns - Children.
'bout - About.
Fash - To trouble or tease. "Wasn't fash" translates to "Couldn't be bothered" or "Didn't want the trouble of".
Gan - Gan is to go. Gannins on is goings on.
Gob - Mouth. "Hold your gob" basically translates to "Stop talking".
Hoyed - Threw, as in to throw something.
Lapped - Wrapped.
Queer - Peculiar, strange or odd.
Wear - The Wear is the name of the river.
Whisht - Be quiet.

The Lambton Wyrm

One Sunday morn young Lambton went a-fishing in the Wear;
And catched a fish upon his hook he thought looked very queer.
But what'n a kind of fish it was young Lambton couldn't tell -
He wasn't fash to carry it home, so he hoyed it in a well.

Whisht lads, hold your gobs, I'll tell you all an awful story,
Whisht lads, hold your gobs, and I'll tell you 'bout the worm.

Now Lambton felt inclined to gan, and fight in foreign wars,
He joined a troop of knights that cared for neither wounds nor scars,
And off he went to Palestine where queer thing him befell,
And very soon forgot about the queer worm in the well.

Whisht lads, hold your gobs, I'll tell you all an awful story,
Whisht lads, hold your gobs, and I'll tell you 'bout the worm.

But the worm got fat and growed and growed, and growed an awful size,
He'd great big teeth, a great big gob, and great big googly eyes.
And when at nights he crawled about to pick up bits o' news,
If he felt dry upon the road, he milked a dozen cows.

Whisht lads, hold your gobs, I'll tell you all an awful story,
Whisht lads, hold your gobs, and I'll tell you 'bout the worm.

This fearful worm would often feed on calves and lambs and sheep,
And swallow little bairns alive when they laid down to sleep.
And when he'd eaten all he could and he had had his fill,
He crawled away and lapped his tail seven times round Pensher Hill.

Whisht lads, hold your gobs, I'll tell you all an awful story,
Whisht lads, hold your gobs, and I'll tell you 'bout the worm.

The news of this most awful worm and his queer gannins on,
Soon crossed the seas, got to the ears of brave and bold Sir John.
So home he came and catched the beast and cut him in three halves,
And that soon stopped his eating bairns and sheep and lambs and calves.

Whisht lads, hold your gobs, I'll tell you all an awful story,
Whisht lads, hold your gobs, and I'll tell you 'bout the worm.

So now you know how all the folks on both sides of the Wear
Lost lots of sheep and lots of sleep and lived in mortal fear.
So let's have one to brave Sir John that kept the bairns from harm,
Saved cows and calves by making halves of the famous Lambton Worm.

Whisht lads, hold your gobs, I'll tell you all an awful story,
Whisht lads, hold your gobs, and I'll tell you 'bout the worm.

Now, lads, I'll hold my gob, that's all I know about the story
Of Sir John's clever job with the awful Lambton Worm.

Maybe I should go live in Russia?
It's becoming too cold here anyway.

And I more a boozer than before, so I might well adapt.

I always enjoy Steve Morse's Notes from the Road. He writes very well and tends to have insightful comments in addition to the anecdotes.

He needs to write a book.

wowww !!!
Demon`s eye is on the bill again - that`s not too bad. Frankly speaking - more than I`ve expected (-:

What I really would like to see is a show with less number of songs but extended versions. On the last tour "When a Blind man cries" was a shame if you compare it to ealier live versions (for example Montreux 1996).

I have to agree George, that setlist isn't very creative. Although I like the inclusion of The Battle Rages On and Demon's Eye; how about Ted The Mechanic, Hey Cisco, Rat Bat Blue, or Super Trouper?

I don't need their notes from the road.... Today I found out surrent tour setlist and it is just AWFULL - No Lazy, No When A Blind Man Cries, THE WHOLE SETLIST REMAINC THE SAME AS IN OTHER TOURS.

Pictures of home
Things i never said
Into the fire
Strange kind of woman
Rapture of the Deep
The Battle rages on
Demon's eye
The well dressed guitar
Contact lost
Perfect strangers
Space truckin
Highway star
Smoke on the water

Hush
Black night
