This is an intersting story too, but very hard to believe, and they might want to pick up a bass player for the project while they're at it.

To Goerge

The new album has been planned for later in the year with a spring 2009 release for some time now.
Roger would have had not time to work on it now anyway.

NEWS FLASH!

Not only has Steve Morse used the time of to prepare and album to record folks, but so has Ian Gillan, and it will be titled "One Eye To Morocco" so get ready to be happy about that. Line up to be announced but is no surprise if you have followed his progress outside of Purple the last two years.

Cheers for now

I welcome the arrival of a new Steve Morse Band release. I hope it's similar in style to "Stress Fest" or "Structural Damage."

Although I have not heard all of Morse's work, I prefer his "Major Impacts" series to, say, "Southern Steel."

Make no mistake--"Steel" contains some great work--the Schenker-esque "Weekend Overdrive" and accessible "Arena Rock" come to mind--but the "Major Impacts" albums demonstrate what a fine guitarist Morse is.

A guitarist's style and technique is much like a fingerprint--or a signature; that is, unique and difficult if not impossible to reproduce. Even so, Morse went through two albums of songs not covering other guitarists, but extrapolating from them what they might have done or could have sounded like.

Some of the work sounds eerily similar to those original guitarists--not an easy thing to accomplish.

As a Blackmore disciple, I have my criticisms. However, there is no disputing that Morse is a musician's musician and one of the best--or he wouldn't be in Purple--period.

Unfortunately, they were off because RG's mum was dying of cancer. She finally died on 10 June 2008, just barely in time to see and hold one of her just born great grandchildren.

I would love to see a new DP album, but hving lost my mum and dad at young ages, I know how RG needs some time and space.

hmm...

Morse's solo album is good...

But Deep Purple had 4 free months till now to realase new studio album, begin new tour and thus celebrate their 40'th anniversary.

WE NEED ANOTHER DEEP PURPLE STUDIO ALBUM!!!
