To me they always sounded like a 2nd. rate garage band. I guess Page fooled the crowds with his double guitar, and Plants screaming was always pitifull compared to Ian Gillan. They did help re-write rock´n´roll, its just that DP was much more progressive and musically daring, and in the MK. II days from 69 to 73 they where the class of their generation! I was privileged to be at countless live shows in Copenhagen during those years, and DP was the kings of the crop. However, it all subjective is it not?
