I saw Blackmore's Night in Charlotte last month also and it was incredible! We were up in the balcony and had a great view of everyone. Candice was so beautiful and sang so well. I tried to get her autograph after the show (she alone of all the bandmembers lingered a little while) but she said she had to go. Several girls next to me who also got a close up look were also in awe of her beauty. As for Ritchie, it was so incredible getting to finally see him in person and HEAR him. I loved his soloing on Ariel (did both a solo w/slide and without). During Soldier of Fortune I actually shed a tear because his gentle improv bits were so incredible. All in all, a great show...

I 've seen DP almost 15 times, BN only once.
I honestly say that the BN concert i saw (i hope they coming to Belgium again soon!) was the best concert I ever saw. Ritchie truely has something magical.
I agree that you cannot judge if you don't saw both bands life.

Good for sami never a bad word!

That is until priest operates his strings.

The only way to avoid criticism is to do nothing! So I guess the concensus is dont criticise just agree with everything.

Well, everybodies wonderful, life is great, make love not war

Tracy, you've hit the spot!! I, for one, have been guilty of badmouthing/off topic here, but to my defense, I've been only answering back to some RB/JLT-haters whose comments I'd found very childish, pathetic & immature. So, no more from my part, I surely can live with/embrace the Morse era-Purple, although I don't always appreciate 'the banjo player's' style.
Talking 'bout beauty of the variety...Rapture of The Deep, some latter day Rainbow, Warhorse's Red Sea & Glenn Hughes on the same evening, absolutely brilliant :)
Cheers, Sami

T....you are on the right track with this.

If you check into each Blog, no matter what the actual subject is, it winds up with all of this back and forth bickering about which Purple Member is the Real Purple Member, or favorite, or best or valid or not. Yet, none of this is what the actual subject is supposed to be geared towards. It's like a broken record from these same narrow minded infantiles. What you said and also what I eluded to with my initial opening statement on this blog was in answer to 'This Blog's Subject". I know I have no say in what each person contributes to these sites, but I would have to say that those whom do nothing but criticize each member for what they are putting out there for us "Fans" to listen to obviously don't care about any of these separate subjects and only wish to obsessively whine about stuff that doesn't actually matter. These petty rantings about the music that isn't enjoyed makes no sense. There are tons of artists putting out music that you may choose from. Center your thoughts and time around them.

So basically, if you don't like somebody whom plays certain music that you don't like, DON'T BUY IT and obviously DON'T LISTEN TO IT. But PLLEEAASSE.......try and keep the comments about the subject of the Blog. If you look through the archives on the Highway Star site, you can find a blog which is formatted around your constant barrage of "Blackmore is better than Morse". "I miss Jon Lord". "Blackmore's Night Sucks", "I hate Joe Lynn Turner", "Gillan can't scream anymore". etc.....blah, blah, blah.

So to finish with a comment about the "Subject of This Blog".... I look forward to hopefully seeing the TV Concert. I enjoy the music and it gives folks another avenue of music to experience from this great personality "The Man in Black". His wife ain't too shabby either. If he hadn't started doing this type of music professionally, I would have never been introduced to it. Now I actually seek out other material related to this style of music. I actually live in a Log House that we have transformed into a"Medieval Castle" with all the paraphanalia....swords, shields, dragons, gargoyles, black iron, armour and helmets, and Blackmore's Night music has become the background music that plays all day....24/7. Except of course when I decide it's time to crank up the heavier stuff, then it's bye bye BN and hello Purple. Isn't that the beauty of the variety? Just change the CD and you can be happy.

Cheers,

Tracy Heyder

I saw Blackmore's Night in Ridgefield and was blown away. I had a few early BN CD's but kind of lost track. When he was to play CT it was a no brainer to get tix. The show was amazing. Blackmore looked like he was ENJOYING the show. He smiled, yes, smiled during the show. The passion he had for his music is the same passion the current DP lineup has. Blackmore is HAPPY with BN and it shows. The crew in DP are HAPPY as well. Both produce great music. I just got the new BN DVD/CD and it's great. Not as great as seeing them in person, but it will get watched a lot. I hope BN tours the US again and soon. I'll be there!

I also hope the cablevision brodcast gets passed along to other cable services.

This is true. Blackmore's Night is not everyone's cup of tea to be sure. However, all the bad-mouthing does get a little old. Blackmore does what he does and everyone needs to deal. If you like it, fine. If you don't fine. But the whiners don't need to post all the negativity every time Blackmore is in the news.

Some people cannot deal with Blackmore leaving Purple. Some cannot stand Morse. I like both and can appreciate both. I consider myself fortunate in that regard. I liked Slaves & Masters and Come Taste the Band, the Concerto, and just about all the solo stuff.

Coverdale vs. Hughes vs. Blackmore vs. Morse--it's all academic. I would like to see a Rainbow album as much as anyone would, but that isn't my decision to make. In the meantime, I continue to follow Blackmore's career and the direction he has earned to follow based on all his work in the past.

Deep Purple, new or old, current or past. It does not matter to me. I can appreciate Blackmore's Night and have been following them since the beginning. Some of the whiners aren't even familiar with the work, having heard one or two songs or a single album--or nothing at all--and that's fine, too. Don't like it? Don't listen to it.

But the negativity on this site is ridiculous. Gillan releases an album and he's a money-grabber. He puts a drawing up for auction--for charity no less!--and the artwork is criticized. Blackmore is mentioned and then is made fun of. Morse posts something and the Blackmore people can't deal. I was under the appreciation that this was a Deep Purple fan site.

The headline is Blackmore's Night on U.S. TV. If I get a chance to see it, I will. If I can't, I want to read about it from someone who did.

Well that's a switch. A stark contrast to the hour and a bit U K shows in the UK. I am glad that people posting here seem to have enjoyed the show. Mellow, Robin Hood esque music aint my thing but if puttin on tights and pretending you are in Sherwood Forest turns you on then power to you.

Long live Deep Purple.

Black sure has gotten user/media friendly in his later years, which isn't a bad thing. For all the complaining,he's still entertaining a mass of people.I'm glad to see him seem so happy with his life and his job.

Very Cool!!!!

I saw them in Charlotte, N. Carolina on October 25th. I must say, we had a great time. Very intertaining and good to see that he is taking this stuff so serious. He has givin us yet another avenue towards being able to experience yet another part of DEEP PURPLE. Every spin off from Purple is a valid one. I don't hear anybody poking fun at Jon Lord for his obsession with his orchestral miandderings. Truly, is either of their present stuff what you really wish them to be playing? Of course not. But, with all of the various influences that these multi-talented blokes possess, it is so rewarding for us "Real" fans to see and hear them throughout their own personal journeys of their passion. Some of it isn't one's cup of tea, but it is all good.

Here is the Setlist from the show that I attended. They did a very nice version of Soldier of Fortune. They played for 2 hours. Something that Purple should take into consideration.

Cartouche
Play Minstrel Play
Under a Violet Moon
Memmingen - short version
Soldier of Fortune
Durch den wald zum Bachaus
Solo - David
World of Stone
Home Again (inc: Drink, Falderie,Star Spangled Banner)
Minstrel Hall (inc: giant rabbit)
Solo - David
Ariel
Loreley
Diamonds and Rust
Renaissance Fair
Fires at Midnight
Wind in the Willows
The Clock Ticks On - (with Albert and Thomas at end)
Village Lanterne
The First of May
Mid Winters Night/Dandelion Wine
