This is my opinion of the concert in cologne.
It was a solid concert. It seems that they have a lot of fun.I think Gillan had problems with his voice. Sometimes he tried to get the “high tunes” but he didn’t get it. RG and SM were with a lot of power, so that it was o.k..
DA played “singing in the rain” in his solo and when we took a look to the sky - it was true.
Paicy did a short solo, but good.
They played 90 minutes - exactly. I hoped that they’ll play longer, because I read the review of the concert the day before.
Setlist:
Fireball
Into the fire
Strange kind of woman
Rapture of the deep
Mary long
Contact lost
Steve Morse - solo
Sometimes I fel like screaming
Wring that neck
The well dressed guitar
The battle rages on
Don Airey - solo
Perfect strangers
Space trucking
Highway star - with extra long intro improvisation
Smoke on the water
Encore
Hush with Ian Paice - solo (a short one)
Roger Glover - solo
Black night.
It was a good setlist, with new life stuff.
July 31st, 2008 at 12:36Hope the next gig the play a little bit longer.
I know, that the are able to play more than three or four hours and they never will do it. They can’t do it right for everyone.
