DP still touring 250 days in a year and do 5/6 dates per country, all over the world, even in poor countries.
RS still do nothing 250 days per year and do just one date per country and only in main countries.
No matches.
DP still be the best "professional rock players".
Please don't name it "classic rock".

George,

The only thing that counts for me is the performance. DP are top notch musicians and I don't pay attention to any decorations on stage. In fact I like the lights and the curtains... When they were touring in the first months of 2006 the lightning was really amazing and it bleneded nicely with the music. Anyway... I always thought the bands who use many stage decorations are turned more to doing show than playing music and they constitute simply a poor musicianship. There are exceptions obviously.

But Rolling Stones fall into the category of 'poor musicianship'. Their success is based on commerciality... There were far better bands in the early sixties who did not have a chance to surface. Stones succeeded, they were in the right city and at the right time ;)

That's why DP and RS shouldn't be compared. The latter are craftsmen, the former are artists.

marcinn,

Why is comparison to RS improper?

Deep Purple and Rolling Stones are 2 greatest bands from the classic rock band, who are active till now.

Look even to the RS's scene decorations, they become more and more grandious, while the only decorations on DP shows are lightings and 4 pieces curtains behind the scene.

Shame on Deep Purple scene technicans.

Who'd care about the statistics??? The comparison to The Rolling Stones is simply improper. 10 000 people in a venue? Quite an amount I think.

10 000 is tooo little number for Deep Purple, Rollong Stones still sold-out 80 000 + capacityi stadiums for 5 night in row.

And 1 500 000 people attended to Rolling Stones concert in Rio, while 10 000 attended to Deep Purple's concert...Because DP doesn't promote their tour AT ALL

This Theatre has a 13.000 capacity ! that's not a little venue I think ! about the promotion, the promoter is in charge, and I think some do it well, and some don't do much, so that the little venue is full of fans or people who learned it on the net or anywhere else. But some do a good work promoting, and if you look at the capacity of the venue in the autumn German tour, you'll see most of these venues are quite good, over 10.000 for most of them.
