Sunday, 26th Sept. RAH Review!

Well, I went from Portugal to London just to see Deep Purple performing with the orchestra, and the gig was so perfect that I would be listening them for the next 30 years!

Well, now about the concert...

It was perfect, first an hommage to Malcom Arnold with one of his synphonies. The sound was perfect and it just sounded like if you were in your room listening to the record, I must say that RAH has superb sound conditions.

Then Mr. Jon Lord went on stage and everybody stood up applauding him. After this reception he played "Picture within" and another song which i can't remenber the name but the lady who went to sing it had this spectacular voice...you know that kind of voice that when you're hearing and it is so high that you think "wow" and it just get higher and higher, great!!

Then Roger Glover, Steve Morse and Ian Paice went on stage with the guest Ronnie James Dio (dressed like he was in the mid 70s, what a thin guy!) and they played a few "Butterfly Ball" songs...

After this there was also a guest, a guy called Steve Harris [Steve Morris - Ed.] which I don't know if it's right but he could well play the guitar.

Ian Gillan was the last one to join the stage, dressed very good and with very style. It seemed to me that Gillan and Roger greeted each other with a kiss in the mouth, this shows how friends they are guys, incredible...very emotional!!!!

Then the wonderful SMB, I think this was one of the highlights of the concert, great musicians performing with enthusiasm...gotta tell Steve what great players you have there, spacially the bass, can you guys believe the man was getting out harmonics from the bass!!!! Incredible, I gotta buy some cds of these guys... GREAT PERFORMANCE!!!! I must say that my thoughts about Ritchie being the greatest guitarist on earth are falling down, because every time I hear this great man, Mr. Steve Morse I know he is the one, the chosen one, I gotta tell you now... STEVE, YOU'RE THE GREATEST GUITARIST ON EARTH, AND THIS CAME FROM A BLACKMORE FANATIC!!!! DON'T FEEL AFRAID OF BLACKMORE'S GHOST, HE'S NOT THERE ANYMORE AND WE DON'T NEED HIM ANYMORE, WE HAVE YOU, YOU'RE THE ONE!!!!

Then started the concert itself, which was easy to recognise the '69 parts, of course there were some differences, but the main parts were there. At the second movement Gillan joined the voices, and I gotta tell you guys what a great voice that man was with that night, perfectly tuned, and besides a difference in the voice's texture (come on guys, his voice has changed a bit, it has passed 30 years!), there wasn't any differences between '69 and '99 versions, I loved this one, especially because he sung twice the second vocal part!! Great voice Gillan, you're still in touch keep with that great voice!!!! :)

Then at the end, audience stood up applauding them for about ten minutes, it was incredible...and they play "Ted the Mechanic", SIFLS, "Watching the sky" and the long time Gillan's dream "Pictures of Home" with orchestra behind, it was incredible. Then they retired, and the audience stood up applauding them for about ten minutes and I think everybody was thinking (I was for sure!!!) that "I won't get out of here until I hear and sing Smoke on the water"...and it happened, the guys and the guests went on stage and played it, great to see Roger and SMB's bassist entering the song great stuff here guys!!!! EVERYBODY stood up during the song applauding just like on "Made in Japan", and when Gillan sung the chorus, I think in the record it will appear more audience than actually Gillan's voice...the fans were incredible this night...I hope Deep Purple enjoy their fans because we love Deep Purpe... THEY'RE A LIVING PART IN MY LIFE... THANK YOU DEEP PURPLE FOR BEING SUCH A HUGE PART IN MY LIFE!!!!
