Get real about Morse

Look, I'm not trying to be funny or anything but I thought that Steve Morse spoiled the Concerto on Sun. 26th Sept 1999.

Ok, he's a talented musician but he doesn't play with any feeling and if you are true to yourselves then I'm sure you will admit it. It's ok playing piddly piddly guitar solos but if they don't fit (as they didn't) then hey, why play them?

Ritchie Blackmore used to play (and indeed did on the original Concerto) to the absolute limits of his ability and in fact if you listen closely you can hear this. This is what deep purple were about, breaking boundaries and playing to the limit.

Sadly, an (overrated) American has ruined what could have been the ultimate night in rock history. Maybe it's what the fans deserve as all I hear about on the website and newsgroup is how good Morse is, even though I don't think anyone really believes it.

Long live rock and roll.
